Anaerobic simply means it does not require oxygen to survive. With gum disease, if mouthwash doesn't get rid of it and its of concern to your dentist s/he will need to give you an antibiotic.

Anaerobes cannot survive in an oxygen rich environment - so the best way to get rid of them is to expose them to the air. Sometimes only a rood canal, tooth extraction or surgery can expose those nasty bugs. You could try toothpaste with peroxide in it to see if it helps - but I am sure that your dentist knows more than I do.

anaerobic means...no O2 needed.for gum disease....get a periodontist review before any DIY.
