In a June 13 speech in Hong Kong, Hawking said the survival of the human race depends on its ability to find new homes elsewhere in the universe because there's an increasing risk that a disaster will destroy Earth.

He said that if humans can avoid killing themselves in the next 100 years, they should have space settlements that can continue without support from Earth.

"Is Stephen Hawking worth listening to?"

Yes.

The mere fact that laypersons can quote him and launch queries about him is testament to the fact that he permeates the collective psyche of "us". That in turn reflects his 'every man' persona.

So it is probably safe to say that he is so intelligent that he can make himself accessible to all, that is a feat. So I think he is quite smart. But what I think in unimportant, the scientific community regards him as one of the smartest men on the planet. So when he talks, people listen.

Hawkins view of what we do and what we can do to further our very existence should not fall on deaf ears.

Yes. Listen. Heed.

I don't know, are you worth listening to, Hawking is a genius and he is right too, we need to find somewhere else to live, before the sun explodes and engulfs earth, not to mention global warming, which is slowly destroying the planet.

Yeah, why should we listen to a certified genius? Let's find some really intelligent preachers (contraction) to listen to? I think burying our head in the sand and pretending everything is ok because the bible says so is a brilliant way for everyone to think. BRILLIANT. (Using EdSawyer's sarcasm font.)

OH WAIT, let's listen to Jackstetso instead. Another BRILLIANT mind.

Let ME THINK FAST FORWARD scientifically......
Thinking of Human Race, where else to go after "SPACE" !
UNIVERSE as well has an end As I always say
WE DONT BELONG TO ANY DIMENTIONS WE KNOW
As we dont know nothing about Human Race from Where we came and Where we are going.
No one and nothing will save Human Race stop wondering!
If we KNEW how to LIVE, there would be no WONDERING about how to SURVIVE.
My dear coexistents..
