Because love is so many different qualities that even lust is a quality of love. People think that because they have a piece of something the are experiencing the whole thing. They dont realize that love is more than that immediate sensation they feel about somebody. People will think what they want to think. If they want there lust to be love then so be it.

At the alarming rate at which young people mature physically nowadays, the children are "growing up" sooner than they are matruring in their minds. No one teaches a child about what love is, and they confuse lust for love at an early age.

because love is blind..when you see someone you think "they're hot" before you decide to even ask them out.... then you just get so happy you have this person in your life.. so people don't think of what makes them happy or how good they are together.. they just think they have this good looking person with them.. so basically sometimes it's lust before .. then it becomes love.. but it happens a lot that after they sleep together they realize they're not happy.. so they basically got what they wanted out of the relationship .. it was all just lust and not love

Both involved a certain amount of hormones, different, but more than usual nonetheless. And when one hasn't experienced love, the idealism is hard to separate from the reality. Since it's a feeling, an emotion, it's hard to register, even when one is IN love, so to speak. Am I making any sense? E-mail me if you have more questions. Best of luck!

I think psychologically young people confuse it, I don't think people that know what they want out of life confuse it as often.
