As usual, the ignorant ones are spouting what they don't understand about atheists.

To clue yet a few more of you in... atheists don't disbelieve in God because they don't want to be accountable for their actions, or because they want to run around sinning all day long.

Let me be blunt, for those that said that...

How ******* stupid are you people?

Personally, I would LOVE for there to be a God. I would LOVE to have all the fuzzy feelings that theists have about their wonderful god watching over them, and putting footprints in their sand, and whatever other nonsense you want to say.

However, I know that the bible is nonsense. It is ancient pagan mythology that has weaved its way into our culture so tightly that the majority of people today simply just accept it as truth. It is not. We atheists know this. We have studied your bible. You have not. That's the difference.

By the same token, I would love to believe that Santa Clause exists. But that doesn't mean he does.

Use your brains. I'm too damned irritable to educate you people today.

:)

If there was no God,which is impossible, everything including us would cease to exist. Everything here on earth and in the heaven were made possible by God, the Creator of the universe.
Since we were made in the image of God when Adam was created, where do you think that place us ? I would not like to know that answer. We would have to go back BEFORE the book of Genesis?

Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day

I usually answer this question with the statement "Just because you don't like it don't mean it aint true!". I don't think many atheists actually WANT to die and rot in their grave, or to admit that in the grand scheme of things our lives are no more significant than that of an ameoba. If there is no god, we are basically a colony of polyps on a big rock hurtling to nowhere. We might as well be the proverbial ants on a "log" that is about to be flushed.

I think a lot of people just can't handle the truth. If they truly thought that this is as good as it gets, they would despair and probably become psychotic. That reminds me of another question christains often ask: if there is no god, why do you have any morals at all? What keeps you from robbing banks and killing people? (I remember watching one debate where the christian asked the atheist 'what keeps you from reaching accross this table and striking me dead?" and the atheist replied "I'm not so sure I want to try to talk you out of your religion anymore."

I guess the bottom line is that if there is no god there is no hope for mankind. Were just another little accident awash in the infinite sea of time; totally meaningless.

I'm not partial one way or the other, in general.

In many ways, it'd be nice if there was a God ... if there was an eternal happy place where everything the inequalities of the living world were corrected.

But the simple truth is ... there's no reasonable justification to believe in a God. It's like making a very simple observation about the world ... and, without any further proof / observation, then justifying some incredibly deep, complex theory on which everything is based.

Simply bringing up dinosaur bones is contradictory to the religious beliefs of a huge portion of the Earth's population. And yet they cling ...

I want there to be no god because the prospect of there being an omnipotent intelligent entity who knew and intended and designed the world to be as it is, with all the war and famine and torture and rape and mass murder and molestation of innocent children and so on, would fill me with disgust and despair. If a god really existed he would have to be an entity of the most monstrous, appalling, sadistic evil, to look down on all this suffering and think it was good. I wouldn't want to live in a universe governed by such an entity. I'm glad it's all just childish human fantasy.

If all I wanted , is what this short life has to offer ,I guess it would not be as important to me. But I like knowing I am really spirit not flesh, and one day, God plans me a new Spirit body ,that is eternal, that has no flesh needs ,to me that is awesome. I plan to venture the solar System, and explore all Gods Creation, and i will not grow tires , hungry, or feel pain. only Love. With out God this would not be possible I would be stuck in this Flesh Cocoon unable to be reborn.

because people are blinded by their own foolishness.
because they want to prove themselves right.
because it's like seeing is believing, but we can't see god. in order to believe, the don't see god, he's not an idol nor graven image. so if they don't see god w/their own eyes, they won't believe.
but if they'd give their lives to god, christ. feeling the holy spirit is far worth more then seeing. god will allow miraculous situations to show u his power, but if you accept christ into your heart, you'll understand what we mean when u feel the holy spirit all over u, in you, & around u.
people that don't want there to be a god, have no idea what they're wishing. this world would be in such more turmoil, so much more evil & darkness going on. it would be unbearable as well as unbelieveable.
they all need jesus....

Why do you want to pretend there is one?

Believers I've met usually claim to be open minded so research for yourself. I've read the bible. Have you read about Atheism?
