It really depends on the status of your legal system in the state, country you're currently in. Of course most government won't give the pay out. But if you can prove that the prosecution did not have enough evidence and still make you go through that "18year" ****. Compensating you a few million should sound reasonable. A guy went wrongfully to jail for 5 years and was compensated $1.5million. I think it was worth the time considering he might not earn $1.5mil in 5 years.. =P

I have never heard of a case in the US where an innocent person was ever compensated for their stolen life. If compensation was a possibility, then perhaps police detectives and the district attorneys departments would be far more careful when gathering evidence and far more careful when extracting confessions from suspects.

It depends on the State. InTexas a black man who was a janitor of a school was convicted for raping and killing a white girl, and he was placed on death row for years. DNA proved he didn't do it so they let him out of prison and they have yet to apologize to him or give him a dime, and this was back in the 90's.

think about all the innocent people imprisoned and released later with nothing except a criminal record, and many times they were known innocent , but a fall guy was needed , so some one goes to jail ,, the state do not like to admit fault , and will not help in any way ,to set things right, in lots of cases they simply put you back in prison for trying to prove your innocence,, the state is heavy handed and over baring , be careful i have paid dearly,on a quest for justice , justice its self may be blind but the prosecutor is not and will not like a black mark on their record,, please be careful
i use to believe in truth justice and i still do but some times it doesnt work properly

certain, it became with a guy I had a weigh down on a lengthy time period in the past. He became on the homestead waiting for one among my cousins and that i became taking something out of the oven. I dropped it on the range very right now and he looks at me and say " you do not prefer to be anxious round me" the rationalization I dropped the pan became because it burned me no longer because of him. someone became a lil complete of their self.

Each person's case would have different levels of merit, base upon negligence or intentional corruption in their case.
A civil lawsuit would be required to get more than an apology.
