Read a lot of books, perhaps take on some sort of high level course (I learnt lots of big words in university) or just ask people that are older than you, they tend to know large words that aren't in use as much anymore (e.g obfusicate, which I learnt yesterday).
Hope that helps and I hope you can put those big words you learn to use, they're certainly not much use in conversation to most people these days!

Use a theasaurus. Look up a word, find it in the theasaurus and it will give you other words which mean the same, making you look well educated and intellectual. I'm sure there must be one on the net somewhere.

You have to read - everything from fiction, non-fiction and newspapers. That's the only way to develop your vocabulary.

When you hear someone saying a big word ask them what it means, then try use it yourself when talking, that way you will definately remember it !
