I had a guy promise me to take me out recently (don't get me wrong, I was expecting him to either) he even said when he was getting paid and everything and when he would take me. When I IM'd him later to ask him had he made his choice of where we were eating, he asked me was I paying for my share of the dinner. Am I wrong in thinking this or if the man asks a woman out to dinner, he is paying for her and him? I won't go into his personal life, but let's just say he is someone I cannot see myself spending anymore time with him, other than the two times I did see him. I know the answer already but I just want to get other thoughts on this, b/c I already know he is cheap, he told me he wants a woman to always go dutch with him.

Can I say, that while I like all these answers, I want to stress two things:

1. NO I AM NOT DESPERATE...if you saw my previous statement, I already said i did not expect him to take me to dinner

2. I AM NOT USING ANY MAN FOR A FREE DINNER....only golddiggers do that, i am not a golddigger. I admit I met him twice, and I admit both times were a mistake. But as far as using him for a dinner....please, how can I use any man, that's tacky to me.

Don't go out with this loser again. A guy should try to win you over and paying for a meal is only the first step. Since you said you cannot imagine yourself with him anyway, forget about it. I woudn't have gone in the first place if he expected me to pay, and plus, only asking you on IM is so lame.

If the date is dutch, that should be discussed at the moment he asked you to have dinner with him but he didn't bring it up until later. He's a loser. I don't expect my dates to always pick up the check but that is predetermined. More importantly, why would you accept a dinner invitation when "..he is someone (you) cannnot see (yourself) spending anymore time with.."? Are you just trying to use him for a free dinner?

in my opinion, i imagine going Dutch is a thanks to bypass, a minimum of till the courting has been occurring for a even as. it isn't honest that one human being has to pay always. My authentic reason is that there are a large style of Neanderthals obtainable who imagine that in the experience that they purchase a lady a meal, then they're "obligated." it really is the 21st century. we will pay our own way.

my advice - DITCH MR. CHEAPIE!! That's terrible - he invited you, so he should pay - only after the relationship settles into something more should he expect you to "go dutch" or even pick up the entire tab. Go find someone who deserves you & will treat you right!!! good luck!
