Good question. Here is what I would do.
First. Look at what items are used in his training. What company's typically sponser these other athletes. These are the companies I would target.

Second. Go to your local university. Use the library there to access a computer program called Baseline (it is a financial package). You might need a student to help you here but this is what you are looking for.
Type in the ticker name for each major company (eg. Pepsi would be PEP). Look up the description of the company and who the financial officers are there. Call the Investor relations person and ask that person for what department would be able to help them. Most large companies have a department for sponsorships. When you talk to these individuals you need to be very direct and clear...eg...My son is attempting to qualify for the 2008 Olympics and I am looking for a sponsor.
Companies that are NOT listed or public look them up on the web and look for a phone number to contact them...State the same thing.

Also, I recently moved to Vegas and I know this dojang maybe able to help you out....The compete and would likely have thoughts or run into the same situation. I can not, however, vouch for them as I attend a differant school (I practice Hapkido).

Have you tried contacting the local radio or TV station. They can put out a bulletin. That way people who want to help can help your son. You should probably also check out private local businesses.
The radio things worked with my friend for a beauty pagent and the lcoal business thing worked with my brother's ROTC club

Get him to kick A.S.S. in front of people. not just at tournament.. schedule fights. show your kid off. Its good for publicity or simply ask company's straight up. Especially Gi fabricators or belt manufactures. Call nike its as simple as that. They might make him prove his metle so what if your kids what you say he is, that he can prove it to them
