Its one the causes.

Pepsi and Coke are not the causes of obesity. People are. I can never remember someone forcing me to drink either. In today's society, no one wants to be held accountable or take responsibility for their own actions. It always someone else's fault. Of course, this view is greatly encouraged by the vulture (legal) society.

The cause of obesity is genetics. I don't understand why so many people want to blame this on food or pop! People are born with this disease, and it's up to them to control it by what they eat. These people that are obese are obsessed with food, and they have to control what diet they need to be healthy. Sure pop is not good for anyone, but it's ok to drink one or two a day, just not a whole case, and if we all could eat what we want and not eat a whole box of twinkies or a whole bad of chips, america would not be so obsessed on diets and what causes obesity.

Yeah, all that sugar is bad, bad, bad. But the diet stuff with the artificial sweeteners are even worse.

And what is the stuff they put in there to keep you addicted to it anyway?

Great, now I want a can of coke to go along with those potato pancakes I'll be having for lunch!

They don't cause obesity anymore than guns kill people. People have to consume the beverages and not exercise or eat right to burn off the calories. Just like a person has to pull the trigger on a gun.

if you drink a diet pop you will not loose wieght it will stay the same. and they both are kinda a part of the cause. i started drinking A LOT more pop and i have gained 22 pounds in 2 months. ( i needed it though, i was underwieght) so i agree. i havent been eating any differently so what else could be the cause?

Really? I don't drink that stuff, and I'm pretty fat. So maybe you're wrong. Maybe those are just two examples of empty calories that are overindulged in by people who don't get enough exercise.

No...if somebody is fat it is because they are stupid enough to eat over their daily recommended value of calories a day. There are no excuses unless you really have a genetic prob. No offense....but that is soooo messed up.
