Fasting would lower ur metabolism.
If your body receives less calories, it will think that it is in some sort of harmful starvation situation and actually adjust it's functions so as to preserve the stores of fuel including fat and minimise usage of energy and hence lower ur basal metabolic rate

Fasting actually lowers your metabolism to compensate for less food available for energy. Thick of bears in hibernation. Their metabolism slows significantly, partly due to sleeping. That is why skipping meals is not a good recipe for losing weight. Small meals throughout the day will keep your metabolism humming along at a good rate all day.

I quarantee it will lower it. Humans can live off of very few calories every day becasue the metabolism drops when times are bad. Fat people who say they have low metabolisms are ALMOST always full of crap. Ask one of them if they had a metabolism test done.

it actually lowers your metabolism because you are not eating anything, your body essentially turns it off. it will be about 2 or 3 weeks before your body actaully reverts to eating its own tissue, considering that you are drinking water.

It lowers it. Your body will adapt to getting less food, and start burning calories slower because it thinks that it has to keep you going with less fuel.
