Mostly it is like letting go. The pain signals are no longer important. The body may be saying one thing but the mind and spirit tell it to be quiet.

There is a peace that you see, unmistakeable, in many who pass when it is naturally their time. Even those who have been severely wounded and are conscious, they seem to release and at that moment the pain stops.

I have seen a few who were killed quickly and they all seemed surprised. Obviously, I don't know if that was truly what they were feeling but it was that look of "whoopsy!" that we sometimes feel.

The opposite of life is not death, you know. Death is an integral part of life, the other end of birth. And no matter what you personally believe about what happens afterward, it happens.

I have had two experience with what folks call "Life After Life." In both cases I was in touch with The Ineffable Light. It was so wonderful that I did not want to come back. I had to, I was told. And so here I am. Not sure why I am telling you this, but just thought you ought to read it from someone that does not have a religion to peddle to you. I experienced Love and Acceptance. I think it is there for everyone.

Write me if you care to.

Peace

Does It Hurt To Die

To die naturally would mean to live until your body functions would just quit working. It wouldn't be a illness, or disease, or accident of some sort. Painful, probably to a certain extent. I would tend to think this would take a course of time. But the actual dying experience should be painless, with the brain shutting down and not being able to send messages to the nervous system. I have watched old people die from natural causes and at the very end they seemed more at peace than being in pain.

I am told that when the body is about to die, your conciousness has already left it and moved on, so Julie W you will feel no pain, only joy to have packed up your belongings and returned home.

What people see of death on our side of the curtain is only that brilliant piece of engineering we call a body shutting down for the last time. Since it is hard wired to keep functioning at all costs, this can be seen as a painful struggle, although without a conciousness aboard, there is nothing left which can register pain.

Your body begins to shut down, release, so it doesn't hurt. In fact, it feels peaceful, even those involved in horrible accidents. If you had a cancer of some sorts, the painful part would be the struggle to get through it or to take the chemo. My grandmother had brain cancer, but my grandfather kept her alive for two years. For those two years, her only expression was one of hurt and struggle, yet when she died, it appeared that she was smiling, she even murmured a few words under her breath before she passed. If you ask me, the most painful part of death would probably be for the loved ones that you leave behind.

When you die in your sleep, your heart stops, causing blood to stop flowing to your brain, causing your brain to shut down your "life" basically after shutting down each of your organs. This seems like a long process, but this takes place simultaneously. It's like a bullet to the head. As for her cancer, the desease can cause nerve activity, setting off pain where it isn't supposed to be. Think of it like breaking your arm with actually breaking your arm. The pain is there but no damage has been done. Though I doubt she is actually feeling this, as the desease kills the nerves as well, meaning the pain feeling never reaches the brain. More or less, dying doesn't itself hurt.

It depends on your definition of 'naturally.' There are many medications that alleviate pain for those who are dying. I assume, though, if it was death from a heart attack, for example, there may be some initial pain, but then it is gone at the time of death if not a few moments before. Endorphins usually kick in.

Well, what do you think heart attack or have a train hit you what hurts more. And they say that a heart attack is a natural way to die. Is it natural for your heart to STOP!

compared to dying in a car wreck where you get cut and torn to pieces or getting hit by a 18 wheeler while you are walking down the road and it hits you so hard your body explodes and bust open throwing body parts everywhere, like it did a friend of mine,I would say a natural death such as a heart attack would hurt but probably not as bad as some deaths.
