I am a life long Indiana resident (a Hoosier) and I lived in Elkhart for a short time about twenty years ago.
Between Elkhart, Goshen and South Bend there is plenty to do.
(You do know that South Bend is in the county right next to Elkhart County don't you?)
Here are some links for Indiana.

I live in West Central Indiana particularly Covington. We mostly go to Lafayette, Terre Haute or Indianapolis for some of our fun, since we live in a rural area. We do go to Turkey Run and Shades state parks just to South of here. If you like museums, there is the Ernie Pyle Museum in Dana and the Lew Wallace Museum in Crawfordsville. There are plenty of festival through out the year. The big one is The Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County in October. Here in Covington we have the Apple Fest in October also. So , there is plenty to do for a rural area.

I live in Merrillville, Indiana and the only fun place that I like to go to is Chicago, about a 1/2 hour away.
Indiana beach in Montecello is great to. Theme park, fishing.
Six Flags isnt far.
Get a "Haunted Indiana" book, and then go to those places. Really freaky.
Many malls, if you are a mall-rat.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is in Indianapolis if you like racing.
Lake Michigan for swimming, jet ski, kayak, boating.
There is actually a lot to do!

i live in central indiana, in fishers, the closest thing from here is conner praire, which is a living history museum. and the holiday world theme park in Santa Clause. i would suggest going to indianapolis for "fun" though. now THAT'S a city built on tourism, literally( theyre adding in so many attractions that its beginng to look kind of desperate). you could look into the indianapolis zoo, the childrens museum of indianapolis, the state museum and it's IMAX theatre. victory feild(baseball), the RCA dome (if they dont tear it down to make way for that new football stadium), monument circle, the indianapolis motor speedway which is where the indy 500 and formula1 races take place, the state fair in august, indiana dunes around lake micigan ,or zionsville which is a city. i think thats all i can list. hope it helps.

I'm in Indiana. It's alright. I live in a small town, Vincennes. As far as fun, I spend a lot of time at work and playing in bands so that doesnt' give me a lot of free time. I enjoy both. On my off time, I mostly visit my family who has scatted around the area.
