i believe that by sneaking across the border into america..these "hard working" illegals are doing their own country a disservice...to me..they are just taking the easy route out of laziness....yet they want to come here and demand things from a charitable people, and at the same time make plans and have dreams of annexing the southwest of our country...

my point is...wouldnt all this energy expended be better served by staying in their own country and working to make it better and more successful..??? what makes us think that if we gave you one square inch of our land that you wouldnt turn it into a welfare ghetto...?????

justme up^there--They did live here in the USA, there is no disputing that fact and when the USA whooped Mexico they were given the opportunity to stay on land that was won (and paid $15 million for)by the USA or go south across the new border to Mexico. Some went south, some stayed. It's HISTORY! This is NOW, that land belongs to the USA!

They have already turned L.A. into a crime riddled ghetto:
Police commanders may not want to discuss, much less respond to, the illegal alien crisis, but its magnitude for law enforcement is startling.
Some examples:

• In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide (which total 1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) are for illegal aliens.

• A confidential California Department of Justice study reported in 1995 that 60 percent of the bloody 18th Street Gang in California is illegal (estimated membership: 20,000); police officers say the proportion is undoubtedly much greater. The gang collaborates with the Mexican Mafia, the dominant force in California prisons, on complicated drug distribution schemes, extortion, and drive-by assassinations, and is responsible for an assault or robbery every day in Los Angeles County. The gang has dramatically expanded its numbers over the last two decades by recruiting recently arrived youngsters, a vast proportion
illegal, from Central America and Mexico.

• The leadership of the Columbia Li’l Cycos gang, which uses murder and racketeering to control the drug market around L.A.’s MacArthur Park, was about 60 percent illegal in 2002, says former Assistant U.S. Attorney Luis Li. Frank "Pancho Villa" Martinez, a Mexican Mafia member and illegal alien, controlled the gang from prison, while serving time for felonious reentry following deportation.

The High Cost of Cheap Labor
Illegal Immigration and the Federal Budget

Executive Summary

.. illegal households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more than $10 billion in 2002. We also estimate that, if there was an amnesty for illegal aliens, the net fiscal deficit would grow to nearly $29 billion.

Households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than $26.3 billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only $16 billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost $10.4 billion, or $2,700 per illegal household.

Among the largest costs are Medicaid ($2.5 billion); treatment for the uninsured ($2.2 billion); food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches ($1.9 billion); the federal prison and court systems ($1.6 billion); and federal aid to schools ($1.4 billion).

With nearly two-thirds of illegal aliens lacking a high school degree, the primary reason they create a fiscal deficit is their low education levels and resulting low incomes and tax payments, not their legal status or heavy use of most social services.

On average, the costs that illegal households impose on federal coffers are less than half that of other households, but their tax payments are only one-fourth that of other households.

Although legalization would increase average tax payments by 77 percent, average costs would rise by 118 percent.

By entering without medical screening, illegal immigrants are bringing in dangerous, deadly diseases once eradicated from the USA. :

Terrorists are buying so-called “weapons grade” strains of disease organisms for bio-warfare. America risks devastation by evil intent of a terrorist or by innocent accident of an infected Illegal Alien walking through our foolishly open Golden Door.

an intellectual? uh right.... first of all, most of the people on welfare are of caucasian decent. if you are going to make comments at least know what you are talking about. the way i see it, most of these people are really just doing jobs legalized americans chose not to. i support hard working people, illegal or not. i do have a problem with the system being leached but its not fair to say that illegal aliens are the sole source. they contribue to our economy by purchasing goods and services and also via taxes. go back and check out a little history...i figure they are just taking back what was rightfully theirs. after all, a huge portion of the southwest US was pretty much taken by force. unfortunately, this is not something about economics but more about race.

Sigh....

There are many, many illegals who come here to work in our glorious country to make a better life for themselves and their families. Please don't lump all of these people into the same box.

Mexico is fraught with corruption and poverty, and I understand their want to escape. No matter what system is in place, there will always be those people who will abuse it. Those abusers are who should be extricated.

I wish America would extend their arms to Mexico and help build the country to keep the citizens there, but that just isn't going to happen easily or soon.

Have you ever been poor, poor to the point of living in a shanty, no medical care, poor nutrition, etc? I would hope if that happens, men and women of compassion would come to your aid.

May God continue to bless you.

I live in San Antonio, TX and I have heard & seen so much about Illegal Immigrants that I'm getting SICK OF IT.. but here is my opinion:
IF you want to come to America as a LEGAL do it... There are ways, a GREEN CARD for example, Sponsorship, whatever it takes but DO NOT do it illegally and then BI**H at us for not accepting you with open arms. YOU BROKE THE LAW, if you want us to accept law breaking do you want us to accept the people who rape your wife while your at work, who molest your child while their at school, who stold your car while you were sleeeping. Breaking the law is breaking the law...Don't ask Americans to accept you if you can't do what is legal...

For one, if you don't want them doing the work, DO IT YOURSELF. Stop sitting on the your butt in your air-conditioned room, playing on the computer, and actually earn the money you have! Don't condemn them for doing the work that nobody else will do. Instead of shunning them, try accepting what they have to offer our country.
