Personally I generally do ask if somebody would mind me praying for them. If I can't ask them for whatever reason, and or I think it is very urgent I will just pray.

And if I need prayer, and I am not sure whether or not the person believes in prayer I will often say "if you are a praying person pray, if not think good thoughts."

I might ask if I were going to pray aloud with them at that time. If someone is troubled, I promise to pray for them. Only once did someone ever tell me not to bother, that type of person needs God's intervention more than ever!

If you care about anyone, if you love another person as we should, you can pray for them silently and as soon as you part one another. No harm will ever come from praying for someone and nothing negative will happen to you because God will control the outcome of both your lives.

Peace to you always.

I think when people pray for someone else, it more to make the praying person feel good than anything else. I don't believe in the power of prayer, but I guess I appreciate it when someone who does says they'll pray for me. I mean, I think it's a waste of time, but if it makes this person feel better, it doesn't do any harm. But, still, there's sort of a "look how nice I am, I'm going to pray for you" aspect to it, don't you think? If someone prays for another person and never tells that other person about it, I think that's really the most selfless way to do it.

If you are moved to prayer for whatever reason you should do so, and you should never ever share the facts of your praying.

Sadly many people who don't believe will tell you "I don't want you to pray for me. There's no God." I usally pray for them on the spot in my heart. I know God heard my prayers before I was saved. I now have family members asking me to pray for them and they don't want to change their lives. Sometimes saying nothing at all says alot when you know where your heart is.

I think that you don't have to ask people to pray for them.Everyone needs a little prayer sometimes, .... even if it's unexpected or they've never pray before.

Prayer is doing nothing for that person it goes no where and helps no one. Be a real friend call, comfort, hugs, those help and those are real. I know I lost my husband and the prayers didn't help him or me, But comfort and hugs go along way.

I personally dont like to be ask or told by someone that she or he is going to pray for me.

To me when a person telling me first is like he/she is saying oh, im so powerful or im so pure that i will pray and God will listen to me.

As long as you aren't directly involving them in your prayers, what difference does it make? I wouldn't put prayer requests in for them without their consent, because that could get back to them and really piss them off, but if you do it secretly and privately, how is anyone harmed?

I don't usually ask someone if they mind if I pray for them...praying for people is like an automatic response for me.
I don't understand why someone would be offended by someone's desire to pray for them. When someone offers to pray for you, they are expressing concern for your needs.
