For some strange reason the Jews seem to think that the "Satan" character works for the "God" character.

Where does this notion come from?

Satan works for G-d, the concept of an evil being going around trying to beat G-d is not a monotheistic concept. It would be akin to saying there are three gods but we are still a monotheistic faith. Just doesn't work.

I do not think so. For the Christian, most of the teaching about Satan were based on Old Testament. Thus, having the same source as the Jews. It should not differ one from another.

I do not agree with you, not with the notion.

Satan is the spirit/mind/culture/civilization that is in opposition to the laws of doing that which is approved by the Spirit of Truth and Righteousness. Anybody who deceives another willingly or otherwise is an agent of the Devil. The Devil is as real as there are lies in this world. So if you believe a lie to be the truth you are not only deceived you are also an agent of Devil whether you know it or not.

As a Christian, I don't believe in Satan. He's a metaphor not an actual being. One has to draw the line between superstitious excuses for problems, and true spirituality.

Read the Book of Job, in which "Satan" is named as the being who is going about doing the destruction of Job's life, at the request of God.

Maybe because they came up with the idea in the first place.

Speaking of which, I now believe in hell, because I'm at work and the radio started playing Bon Jovi's "Livin' On a Prayer" and I can't do anything about it.

I asked a pretty similar question today, as frankly nothing about Satan makes a lick of sense to me. You can peruse it, though I doubt it will do more than just add to the confusion...
