I ask because my girlfriend swears it is true and at first I just laughed it off as an old wives-tale, until it happened to me. I couldn't sleep one night, so I made some warm oatmeal to help me fall asleep and when I finally went to sleep I had the worst nightmares of my life. Usually my dreams are normal and peaceful.

is somethjing bad happening in your life, are you stressing, if so, your body is just rethinking all the thoughts of the day and things to come, and your stress level may increse bad dreams or even nightmares. Try rubbing your forehead to forget the dream when you wake up. Usually my dreams reflet back on details of the past day like, a cool mailbox or if i said something, your dreams could be small details of yesterday.
