Jaw size is genetic and predetermined.....if the parents of your pit has big jaws, yours most likely will too. If not....small jaws it will be.

I hope it will just be for looks! It's mostly genetic, but excersize, hormones, age, sex, and diet will make a difference. If you give him lots of things to chew on it will build muscle in the jaws and make them bigger. A male's will probably be wider than a females, and an un-neutered male's will get wider/bigger due to testosterone. I wouldn't want an unneutered male for a pet, though, it would be worth sacrificing looks for an easier to train dog that doesn't lift his leg on everything! Give him a diet with good meat protien. Too much corn and crap in it will not help his looks or health.

there is no way to make it get huge, that is in the bone structure of the animal which is genetics. Leave it alone and don't hurt that dog. If you don't like the dog how it is then get rid of it instead of abusing it where as it could turn mean and hurt someone which would give the dog a death sentence.

Has he been vaccinated? Did you see if he injured it? I'd take him to a vet asap. Could be dislocated or otherwise traumatized, but dogs can also contract tetanus, and it's not part of their vaccine regimen. It's not normal and affects the ability to eat - so it's urgent he sees a vet. If it's a dislocation, you don't want it to start healing out of socket. And if it's tetanus, he needs antibiotics. If another trauma, xrays to rule out breaks and fractures. I can't think of any reason NOT to take him in asap.

All in the genetics, and it is a living creature, not a status symbol or a power trip....
This is why my husband got out of the breed. Too many people asking questions like this that made him refuse to sell them a puppy.

Your best bet is to take it to an orthodontist or plastic surgeon who can stretch it to whatever size you want. Then test it out by sticking your head or arm into its mouth. If you don't start bleeding, do it again.
