No, they don't think that they are God, they just believe that they were once rodents, then transformed into cats, and then monkeys. until they become reasoning beings that could discern that there is no factual fact that could prove that there's a God. Are could they think that they are Gods, if they were once rodents?

Here we go...

It's not a matter of us not believing in god, it's that there are no gods to believe in. I am an atheist. There are no such things as gods (including the thousands of gods created in the minds of humans for the past several thousands of year), devils, souls, spirits (including the "holy" one), ghosts, heaven, hell, boogey men, or anything super natural. Everything that "is" is natural.

Beliefs and theories (including evolution) are man made ideas created and put into print. Theories can at least be studied, tested and someday possibly proven. I said possibly. Beliefs are created ideas that have no basis in fact. They are just accepted as fact with the idea that since we don't know the origin of life then there must be an explanation. Otherwise how can we go on? It does not matter how much any group of people believe in something it does not make the belief a fact.

We go on without belief because we were born and we live. I personally don't have any desire to die. I enjoy my friends and family and life otherwise. I have nothing to gain from death. Believers do. Christians get heaven with all it's attributes. Muslims get virgins. Atheist get nothing because there is no afterlife.

So what's the point? Atheist accept the fact that mankind may not ever know where we came from or why we exist. This knowledge is not essential to be able to live, obviously, because there are tens of millions of us who do just fine without the facts or beliefs (there is a difference) associated with the why? where? questions.

Believers think they know, but they just believe they know. They don't literally know. Which is great for them - whatever floats your boat. The problem I have with believers is their insistance on forcing it in my face. Everyday I see "In god we trust" on my money or have to hear "God Bless You" when I sneeze. I do not respond. Then some christians complain about the "Infadels" taking over the media and other parts of this country. Give me a break. The president of the united states is a fundamentalist christian, so shut up.

Anyway, you can't learn about atheism from your own religion for obvious reasons. See what your religion has to say about it, then check it out for yourself. There are no membership fees, no great leader, no worship requirements. Read about it and be informed before you judge us.

Believers usually claim to be open minded so you can do some research at :

Evil? Um.. I am really disturbed that you have such a wrong idea about Atheists. I'm not an Atheist, I'm Agnostic.

But many of my friends are Atheists and I will tell you that Atheists do not worship anyone. They just live their lives like normal, reasonable people and just don't factor in religion is all. The End. No evil there.

The Bible tells you of the people who will set themselves up in the temple of God and proclaim they are god. These are all little gods in their own eyes. All people need to be explained to whether we perceive them as evil or not about the Savior in a gentle way. Jesus calls this compassion. They choose to follow the way they want. I will not be held responsible then for their soul if I speak of the Lord, his truth, mercies and compassion. And He says whosoever will come.

The term atheist means they don't believe in ANY God or gods. Many of the ppl that post here and claim to be atheist actualy are not. Many are just agnostic. Which means they don't know which, if any God or gods are real.

No they don't worship themselves...What they do is place faith in Humanity, however misplaced that may be. They also TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their actions as opposed to many Religious folks who say that God (if there is one) made them do this or that...or blame God for things going wrong in their lives. No, they aren't evil though some may/might be doing things that could be considered evil...Placing one's faith in HUMANITY IS NOT ONE OF THEM! PEACE!

I would say No.
Atheist somehow believe that having faith in God is a crutch..........they might be on to something. I lean on God all the time, I give Him praise and talk to him all the time. All things work for the good in the name of the Lord.

Atheists don't "worship" a god. Their religion is blind faith that there is no God. (I'm basing this on an atheist's statement that believing something without proof is blind faith.)
I wanna move in next to Mark. It might be nice to have a neighbor who worships me. Mine just worship my dog....

if there is no God, there is no God. Atheists don't worship themselves. And by the by, Vanity is still a Sin.

Athiests don't believe in God, they believe in themselves and others. Pretty much it's "I take care of myself, so you must take care of yourself." They are not evil, that's a ridiculous notion, they just don't believe in a more powerful source. It's sort of like not believing in the paranormal.
