Because.... your average pet owners struggle with the concept that the dog is NOT a 'furbaby'.

Because.... your average pet owners have no basic animal sense and have no idea how to handle animals.

Because.... your average pet owners do not take responsability for their problems. It MUST be the dogs fault!

Because.... your average pet owners only want the magic wand to solve their problems. They are generally not interested in solving their problems if it takes actual work or time.

Because.... your average pet owners seem to think that a dog should automatically know all the rules. They don't expect that out of a human baby, but a dog should just somehow magically know the rules.

LOL! Take a deep breath and keep at it getemgang! The people here need to keep hearing from you!

lol So true. Not only didn't they teach it any better, they didn't even realize that it was their job to! People see well behaved dogs and they think that the dog evolved that way. Not true. We put lots of time and hard work into teaching them how to behave in our society. Dogs are hard wired to behave in a dog society, not a human one. Therefore we have to teach them what is proper and what is not. It's not like they are trying to make a person angry, they simply don't know better. Just look at some people's children and you can see the same thing!!! Dogs also live in the moment. They aren't being spiteful when they pee on the floor after you didn't take them for a walk. They simply had to go because they weren't walked and the owner didn't let them out long enough.

Too many people seem to think that dogs are born knowing how to properly behave, perform tricks and will write them a reminder note to get them to the vet.My neighbor is one of them.
She cannot understand why her pitbull can't walk on leash without pulling, refuses to stay in the yard and destroys things when left inside for 12 hrs. a day when my german shepherds will stay next to me when off leash, come when called, never leave the yard and destroy NOTHING.They're very well mannered dogs and they mind while hers is ignoring her and jumping on everything when he's not running off.
I'm a firm believer that no one should peddle puppies without informing the new owners that the adult dog will only be as good as the time they put into it evan if it means they have to write it on their little rumps in permanent marker before handing the pup over.

*heh* Morning, GetEm!

Know which one I'm really sick of? "Why does my dog eat it own poop? Is it OK!!?" *sigh* I understand that it's a concern, but I'm wearing out my link to the coprophagia page. If anybody's watching, they'll think I have some sort of sick fetish.

My three favorites are... "Why won't my dog listen to me?" and "Why does my dog pee on the floor?" and "What do I feed my dog?" I can't even read those anymore. They make me tired.

Pretty basic questions, if you ask me, and I can't figure out why they ended up with dogs if they didn't know these basics. I wonder what it's like over in the "Parenting" section? I refuse to look. Oh well... Back to the questions!

Strange syntax aside, I agree.

People ascribe human emotions and thoughts to dogs because it has never occured to them not to. Dogs are such a huge part of our lives, we just assume they're just like us, only with fur and without opposable thumbs. A lot of abuse of dogs happens when people don't understand their dog's motivations. Dogs don't "get revenge" and they don't disobey on purpose. There's no such thing as, "He knows he's not supposed to do that, but he's doing it just to piss me off." Dogs don't do that. Dogs do what is best for dogs at all times, and if engaging in a behavior proves rewarding for them, they'll do it. If it stops being rewarding, they'll stop. It's that simple. Yet, people kick the crap out of their dogs thinking that the dog is purposefully trying to make them angry.

Sorry, only humans have that kind of twisted motivation. Go us.

youre a dildo and so is your dog fido...get a flea colar for your girlfriend and keep her pooper scooper in your back pocket. Not to mention the leash. You are a spun out weirdo that needs a flea dip...I feel sorry for the people that bring their dogs around you. You have the mentality of a nose hair trimer. Quit asking questions and act your shoe size.oh and get a job freak.

why does my dashund dig? because its a dashund and its bored

why does my border collie destroy everything in my house? because its a border collie and its bored

why does my lab shed so much? because its a lab and you are not feeding it good food or not brushing it enough

teaching is only part of the problem - intelligent dogs need mental things to keep their minds busy and "becuase its a dog" is only part of it - certainly its because certain breeds have certain traits and the person didnt do their homework on what traits their dog has that they might not find desireable

Well, it really just looks like there is no one on this planet as smart as yourself. Maybe you should start running the country to sinse it's totally obvious no one else has any sense like you do.

Actually, the way you make yourself sound my dog probably has more sense than you. Maybe I should let HIM teach YOU better.

Your dogs must really get on people's nerves. Or did they bite someone? I work with my dogs. They are welcome at almost all of my friend's houses and my family's places. They just can not go to wear someone is allergic to them like my godchild.
