Please help,, technical enquiry ?

Question

My tv remote has broke and I cant change it on to the Av channel so when I switch my sky box off and the dvd player on all I get is the snowy screen, I've heard that its just a case of linking 2 of the pins on the scart plug together, is this true and if so,which ones do i link 2gether ?

when the sky box is dis-connected the tv reverts to analogue again, the dvd player will activate the av input but switches back to analogue after 3/4 seconds, I'm ready for tossing it out the window, any ideas on the scart pin issue ?

I wouldn't mess about with that sort of thing. Just get one of these programmable remotes from Poundstretcher or off eBay. They'll run damn near any brand and model of TV equipment.

Usually AV is like channel 0, so if you can move down the channels by pressing a 'channel down' button (so that it switches to 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0) you should come to AV eventually.

With the scart lead thing, I think what you need is a fully connected scart lead, this should automatically switch the tv to the AV socket that has the new signal coming in (when you turn on the DVD player).

Don't know but on some TV's you can tune sky to another channels and not the av

on my telly if u press the channel up and down buttons the av channels come on once you've got to the end of your channels. might be worth a try. or programme your sky remote to work the telly.

swap the scarts on the tv to.. sky box.. AV1.. and DVD into AV2...
when you switch sky box on.. it will turn tv to sky.... if the sky remote is working... look in the book about it operating your tv... you just have to put a code in it.. easy... if you get stuck/or cant find book.., i can email you the relevant page...g'luck
