They say you should drink 8-8oz glasses a day. The thing that everyone forgets though is that the water in fruits and vegetables and everything you eat counts as well. So you don't necessarily have to drink 64 ounces of straight water, so long as you get 64 all together.

The answer is relative to your body/genetic makeup. If you follow Auyervedic medicine you should be sipping warm water for most of the day. The Chinese medical doctrine, however, would indicate if you need to drink more than 2 cups of water a day then there is something very wrong with your body which needs to be addressed. In the West our medical shamans do say 8 8oz glasses (approximately) but, that's because of our environment and how much toxicity we carry aound in our bodies and thererfor how much we need to keep flushing out our system.

Depends on temperature and level of physical activity. A couch potato sitting in an air conditioned room all day could get away with half a liter, while an athlete training in 90 degree (f) weather could pass out from dehydration if they drink less than 3 or 4 liters.

Basically, half your weight. So if you weigh 150 pounds, drink at least 75 oz of water. The basic amount though is 8 8oz glasses.

Many people still say 8 glasses a day (or even more!).
YOU DON'T NEED THAT MUCH WATER!!

It's a myth! BOGUS advice. Just an old wives' tale. Urban legend.

Recently I read (I think it was in People magazine by this nutrionist) that you should drink when you are thirsty and that the presribed amount of water (64 ounces) is becoming an archaic notion. If I remember her name I'll post again.
