true story.

Please listen with an open heart and a quiet mind:

The "essence" of Christianity is that a real man came to teach and demonstrate a truly remarkable and balanced principle and way of life--called the Christ Principle.

And this Christ Principle does NOT depend on his literally coming back, nor is it invalidated if some believe he never came. . .or was an invented fiction.

The greatest man in Hebrew literature was Moses. . .but even he failed in the eyes of G-d. . .striking a rock in anger to bring about the waters at Meribah. . .and for this he was denied entry into the Promised Land. . .and forfeiting his legacy of leadership.

You may wish to read and study what is known as Thomas Jefferson's Bible. . .Jefferson personally had his doubts about the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. . .so here's what he did: he did a cut and paste of the gospels. . .and his Bible ends with the crucifixion (death) of Jesus and subsequent burial. This revised Bible was marvellous for Jefferson because the Christ Principle seemed more direct for him. . .and this is what he was studying and learning about. . .not to be distracted by a person whom he could never be like (born of a virgin, great rabbi, miracles performed, etc.)

You may be onto something if what you mean by "give up already" that so-called Christians are too focused on what's next or when is He coming, that they fail to follow his example and life style in the present. But this is the weakness of individuals and not to detract from the fact that all of us need something bigger and better than ourselves in order to improve our condition--and to have a role model or standard by which we can emulate.

Shalom (Peace) to you!

Jesus never IS coming back. He didn't say He would return; He said, "The Comforter" would come; "The Spirit of Truth" would come. And He HAS come. He said, "I have other sheep that ye know not of", but at the time of the end, There will be one shepherd and one fold." That means that He had other religions that His followers knew not of, but that at the time of the end, all the religions would realize that they were one religion, all along, worshipping the same God.

When someone tells you "I'll be right back", that's universally understood to mean something way less than 2000+ years.

To tell people something that you KNOW they will misunderstand, is still a lie, even if it is true from your hidden perspective.

Either Jesus deceived them, and therefor isn't god, or he wasn't god to begin with, which is why he hasn't returned. It isn't valid to say "oh well, he meant 'right back' from HIS perspective", because he was supposedly god and would have known they wouldn't understand - making it a deception.

It's not that easy to get people to turn on their very dear beliefs. I believe He is coming back someday. But that belief doesn't really change my daily life. I mean He could come tomorrow, he could come in a thousand years, I could die tomorrow, I could die in 80 years. Either way, because I never know what's going to happen, I figure it's best to just keep living as best I can.

There are records of Jesus's actual existence, in spite of the indisputable fact that it is your own opinion in case you imagine he's the son of God. i do not imagine he became, yet I nevertheless imagine he became an truly good individual. once you're an atheist, it truly is your own concept and no one ought to objective to convince you in the different case. there is no longer some thing worse than having faith filled down your throat. i became raised Catholic, so i understand how problematic it should be. i position self belief in God because i love the considered meaning, the peace of mind that someone obtainable cares about me and watches over me no remember what. in spite of the indisputable fact that, I recognize that there is no info in this and that i should be incorrect. we ought to always each and each and every personally believe what we anticipate of is ideal because no one in the international is conscious what faith, if any, is the "top" one.

you need to study up on your Yiddish. The proper plural form is "goyim".

..unless you were trying to say "guys". In such a case, I gave you too much credit.

Edit: In response to spamandham..."'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the LORD." (Isaiah 55:8 NIV)

Don't you mean "goyim?"

And, yes, He's returning soon. VERY soon. Prophesies given in the NT re: His return are being fulfilled left and right.
