It si OK to grieve for your lost friend. 11 years is a long time to have a companion and you will miss your friend greatly. Go ahead and cry, but don't feel guilty. You gave that animal a gift of love and companionship in a big, scary world. And pets don't live as long as we do, so you would say goodbye at some point.
I have an older dog who has been in my life for well over a decade, and his end is drawing near. I don't know who I will say goodbye either. Be strong, and keep your memories close to your heart.

So sorry for your loss. Pets become part of our family. When they go, it leaves an empty spot in our lives, and it is normal to grieve when you loose a best friend. Don't let your grief make you feel guilty about looking for another friend though.
Don't go to a pet store; go to petfinders.com. This site will lead you to a local animal shelter or rescue organization where you can rescue a new friend. You might even try volunteering at a local cat rescue organization, and maybe meet a new human friend, who, like you, loves cats.
I know you can never replace your lost friend, but just remember that Poop would not want you to be alone.

That is so sad. Please don't feel guilty, you tried very hard to help him. Cats are really good at picking up on our feelings so he probably knows how concerned you were for him even at the end.
Maybe you could look into volunteering at a local shelter. It might help you feel better until you are ready to have a new feline companion in your life and you might meet some other animal loving people also.

poor guy hang in there i have lost dozens of cats while growing up in the country with my parents. we had all the room for tons of outside kitties and being outside they were always dissappearing, getting hit by cars,or coming down with nasties as i call it and finding them dead nearby in the woods there was always animals that were pedators to my feline friends too and in all the years of losing loved animals i've learned to love and cherish whos in your life now b/c you never know what tommarrow holds.its a very difficult situation to deal with but you must always keep in mind when getting a pet that most likely that pet will die before you its not about dissappointment its about the joy that creature brought to you and all you've learned from him/her.you will never forget em but give it time and the pain will be lessened, its hard to believe b/c of the pain you feel now but trust me it does get better look for a better tommarrow and when the time is right to get another friend you'll know it. maybe even a different type of species would be considered in your situation so you don't get upset when your new friend does things that would remind you of the great pal you lost unless that won't bother you. don't be embarassed of you feelings cry your heart out,its reality, people male and female all have feelings crying is very healthy and so is mourning. i have 3 cats one with a litter of 6 and 3 fish and 2 guinea pigs all of whom i love so and my daughter enjoy greatly one day i'll have to expain this to my daughter, so remember you are not alone millions loose their loved ones human and non human.guinea pigs make great pet friends too there are tons of things going through your head i bet but a nice relaxing evening of pure sobbing crying anda touch of anger is a very healthy way to mourn and actually speeds up the process of mourning b/c if you drag it out the longer you will be in pain at that could affect your health, you'll be suprised at how much better you will feel in the mornin'!i lost a dog over 10 yrs ago n i still look back at him through memories and pic.s sayin what a great dog he was but its part of life. take care of yourself find a new hobby and try to keep your mind off it after you've grieved. it'll be ok friend.hope you can feel better soon
