how to get to Tahiti from Australia?

There is a major airport at Papeete. Air Tahiti appear to fly to Australia and it takes 9 hours.

Either go by ship or by air, it's too far to walk and you'd get your feet wet.

well I always thought us people nowadays travel that far by plane but if you think there is another way then so be it
