Now I will admit the bible does tell us to pray, and we can ask for things that we want. But I have heard far too many ppl, both irl and on here, say that they don't believe in God, because they prayed for something and he didn't answer, and or they didn't get what they want.

Do you really believe that you can make ultimatums with God? Most rational ppl at some point or another come to terms with the fact that they can ask there parents for whatever they want, but there parents can say no. Yet when it comes to God, if one prayer isn't answered the way we want we turn away from our faith. Why is that?

You must be born again, or you cannot see the Kingdom of God. This is why you ask untrue questions upon imperfect premises.

if statistics be known, I'll bet nothing fails like prayer.

many don't "lose" faith in God, they wise up and abandon such faith

many don't wise up due to unanswered prayers. they do so due to reasons made up of facts in the real world of things.

Why is it foolish for somebody to believe in an unseen, being that gives them faith, and hope? How is it wrong to wonder just how we got here, and why? And what makes you an authority figure on this subject? And how did you find all the answers? Answers that ppl for centuries have searched for, yet come to no definitive answer?

And on this note, is the idea of christianity that bad? I whats wrong with the ten commandments? If nothing else isn't not lieing, cheating, stealing, etc. good ideas? Most laws are based on the bible. so if you are against the bible do you think we should be able to lie, cheat, steal, and kill ppl? If not why do you believe that? If you do not believe in God, then whats the point of being good? If we have nobody to be accountable to, then whats the point?

If you do really feel as strongly about this as you make yourself seem to, then you should have no problem answering these questions. Though you have no reason for integrity, so I don't expect much.

Why is that? They would rather put their faith in something that they can see, touch, feel, etc. If I were to ask God for a Lamborghini, but what I needed was a VW, then I could say that God did not answer my prayer when all I got was a VW, Be mad a God, and tell Him to take a walk. This is a selfish way to be. In my experience most people are very selfish, most especially 'Christians'. Now don't get me wrong I am a Christian, and I know that when I ask for something and it is in Gods will that I have it, then He gives it to me, but If what I ask for is not in His will, then I do not get it, and He lets me know that He is not pleased with my request. How does He do it? By sending trouble my way, that is out of the ordinary kind, and He will put in there somewhere the suggestion on what it is that He would like me to prat about. That is one of the ways that I stay on the narrow path.

I think people also forget that God knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows what is in our hearts, and what we really need.

We only know what we want to know about ourselves, and what we percieve to need or want. And yes, we are very, very impatient people. For example:

My fiancee was out of a job for quite some time. Finally, he recieved a callback for an interview. We were certain that the interview went well and that he would get the job, because he so desperately needed it. I prayed that he would get the job.

He didn't.

You can imagine how disappointed I was. It would have been so easy to be angry with God then, to think he had ignored my prayers. Instead, I simply continued to pray for God to provide for us what He knew we needed.

This week, my fiancee recieved another callback, for a job closer to home, with more stable hours, and benefits that our family needs.

He starts Monday.

We forget that when we ask for things, God will provide, as long as it is in accordance with His will. He will never not answer our prayers, but He does what is best for us, even if we don't know that it's best.

I think one of the most mis-used verses in the bible is "Ask and you shall receive." Most people think that God is some sort of giant, magical vending machine. He's not, that verse refers to our salvation, ask for forgiveness and you shall receive it. When God shows himself as not this magical vending machine, we get angry at him and turn from Him.

Ultimatums are a tricky thing. If you use them to question the existence of God, it can be very tricky, and might let you down. God is never something totally defined on this Earth, so we are left questioning everything about him. Sometimes, ultimatums are good to finding what God's will is. I.E: Your with your girl/boy friend, and you are thinking about getting married, but you want to hear God's will about this. So you ask for a shooting star. Just be prepared to follow through.

Some people just pray to God because they want something. People should pray to God mostly to thank him for what he has given them already. Of course it's ok to pray to want something, but dont expect God to give you what you want, and when you want. You just have to let things be the way it is, and be happy with what he gives you, and dont expect. The more people sit there and think about why they are not getting what they prayed for, the longer they will live in misery.

If you construct a spirituality based on a god that is fashioned as a great big papa floating in the sky, then the cranky demanding child will take a snit fit and walk away.

However, if you realize that only you can make changes in your life, and embrace chaos as a reality of life, you can get rid of the whole god-subordinate paradigm and get on with your life.

They don't understand that our Loving Father will not give us something that he knows will not do us good. Naturally we are like little kids,"mommy/daddy give me this, I want it now!" And when the child doesn't get it, they whine, cry and have a fit. Evenly after not getting everything they wanted and asked for, they give up. We can learn a lot about our behavior towards God by watching children. I have. lol God bless you all

Why are people so silly as to believe that praying to a non-existent entity makes any difference to anything

i used to think that, but god does REALLY answer your prayers, you may not know it, but right now, he's working on it. I guess people just dont have faith and they are not patient.
