It will be nice but won't ever happen. There are too many ways we can make the explosive, there is no way we can track all of them.

Some sensors in airports bombard luggage with - something - not sure what - to detect nitrogen - a common substance found in most explosives.
Unfortunately, it is also found in cheese and salami... so many people have been stopped and searched for nothing more than attempting to illegally import some Sopresatta.

Anything more sophisticated does not exist at this time to my knowledge.

Oh, yes. bomb sniffing dogs are pretty effective - if that meets your definition of a "sensor"

"Anytime anywhere" sounds a bit broad, but the best technology we have right now is dogs. The problem with dogs is that they get distracted and tired and you can't use them for long stretches of time. Researchers are trying to develop man-made sensors that work like a dog's nose. This was the subject of a Scientific American article in October 2005, "Better Than a Dog."

These things exist. The sniffer thing is probably a GC-MS which can detect quite small quantities of materials like explosives. Trouble is they're big and expensive. The neat thing would be to make something small and cheap enough so they could put them everywhere.

That sensor would be going off like crazy. There are many different materials used in different types of explosives. Good idea, just not feasible in our current world.

Not sure exactly what you mean but there is such a sensor and they are using them. It basically smells the explosives. If you watch security personnel at the airport taking tongs with a small cloth and swabbing your luggage and putting it into a device, that's what they are doing.

might be, days come when we can do such things .I think radiation can detected so if the explosive emits radiation then possibly it can be detected.but not all explosive emit radiations,i ultra sonic sensors can be used becos they can detect metals so if explosives contains mettalic substance then it can disposed
