most baby gates are good. But as a yellow lab gets older they will just walk right on through>I have never been able to keep my rottweilers behind a baby gate after 2 months old. I have very large kennels in my back yard. Well good luck.

Any baby gate will do....unless he's a "jumper". I have a 170lb Great Dane. I don't even lock the gate into position, I just lay it across the stairs of doorway and he has no clue he can knock it down. Start w/the regular gate. I think they also make tall ones. The catalog "Foster & Smith" might be helpful. They have a website FosterandSmith.com. Good luck

Just use an ordinary gate borrowed from a friend or something to start with as most dogs will see the obstacle and just not try to pass it. Only if your pup emerges to be more determined in adulthood should you need to buy a more expensive gate specifically designed for a dog.

Actually, any baby gate that is about 3 feet high will be good enough if you use it early enough. I have a 125 lb. Rottweiler who won't go past a two foot tall baby gate because he was behind it since he was a puppy.
Cute Golden. My brother has one.

any baby gate will work for a pup. But for my very bouncy Akita... I had to get one that was 4 feet tall. The regular sized baby gates that most people can step over... he could easily jump over. the four foot one kept him contained, but it also meant I had to move it when i needed to get to that room.
As for stairs... most dogs won't jump pver a gate set at a the TOP of a flight of stairs, as they see the danger and don't want to land on the down flight of stairs. But at the bottom of a flight of stairs, they'll still need the tall one. Just m,y observation from my big goofball who likes to jump and climb fences...

Stopping a hundred pounds will be tough.
My dog weighs ten pounds, so 100 seems so dramamtic.
