I'm 19.. in shape, and get compliments, but I constantly obsess over my body and never feel satisfied with it. I have very low self esteem and always feel bad about myself anytime I'm reminded that I could be skinner and that it looks better. (this is like all the time..)
what can I do to stop obsessing? and start getting my life back? i want to be happy and have self esteem. any suggestions?

I there are 2 ways to grow your self esteem. One is to find a way to help others. It can be as simple as helping a neighbor or as grand as doing habitat for humanity. WHen you see the positive effec tyou have on others you learn your worth. The other part of the equation is to keep yourself in activities which challenge you, but are social and fun. Do you have a hobby? Find a group of people who share the same interests. When you share what you enjoy, people enjoy your company and vice versa. Another aspect to this is when you gain new ground in what you are learning. Your persistance pays off in self esteem It isn't how great you did something but just that you never gave up trying something new.

First, stop looking at magazines and TV shows about super models. You end up trying to look like the pictures instead of just living your own terrific life. Instead of worrying about how it looks, worry about how it functions. You'll find guys like healthy women more than they like bulimic stick figures. Self Esteem is a tricky thing. Most people will tell you that affirmations help. I don't buy into them, but hey, to each her own? If you get compliments, what more do you want?

Stop worrying about what others may say or think about you. Who the f@ck are they, anyway? Eat healthy, exercise & be happy with your natural weight. Don't compare yourself with others--that's a losing game (there will always be people that appear better off than you). Plus, pat yourself on the back when you accomplish something (even something small) in school or in the real world. Give yourself a break. You deserve it. Am I right?

Yes, in order to have good self-esteem, you must perform esteemable acts. Do something good for someone else, and don't bother worrying about how they respond. Some people will not appreciate good things you do, but that's on them. But still do good things, then you will have something to feel good about.

You should take up a hobby. Being good looking is nice but you should be good at something to feel good about your self and have a since of self worth. Do you like music? sure you do. WHy dont you take up music lessons or dance? Good luck

Stop letting other people's thoughs and feeling run your life. Always remember how wonderful and beatiful you are. No you are not perfect, but that is what makes you so great. You will always have those few lbs you don't like but learning to love them will be a challenage but when you do. trust me you will feel so great about who you are.

oh k u wanna build ure self esteem or u wanna make ure self worth sumtin....u gotta work hard for it ....try settin the goals of ure life and den work out for it ....when ive accomplished sumtin tht u wanned badly ull feeel good bout ureself....ull feeel proud 2 ....this way ull get ure self esteem on the rise...
