That they didn't understand you're last remark. Like if you were to say" I have a date with Brad at 3:30 tomorrow", the other person might be confused because you might have been going out with Josh or you were supposed to have a date with Josh at that time. Do you get the picture?

I do it when I don't understand what the person is talking about; they've managed to go off on some tangent that is not only completely off topic but beyond my field of knowledge.

Means they don't know what U are saying or asking who you are or what do u want.
They may be busy to type the whole sentence or they don't know U or they don't want to type out the whole sentence like, "may I know who are U?", What are U saying about.
