Yes, but I believe in a literal Heaven, too. Faith is the answer as to why.

Hi Wayne,
When I first started seeking God, and reading the bible, I just accepted the fact of a literal "hell" on faith. SInce that time, years ago, I have bonded with the Spirit of God, and taken Him as my Father. I love Him, and know Him personally. I can tell you with full assurance, that the doctrine of "hellfire" was inserted into the "christian" faith by pagans, when "christianity" became the official faith of the Roman Empire. What depraved and immoral criminal, would punish his errant children in a lake of burning fire for all of eternity? How can we say that God is a God of mercy, and love, and think for a moment that He would treat the children He created this way? Even the most depraved human would eventually tire of hearing the screams of his children, and let them go, or destroy them. No one who knows and loves our Creator Father, would ascribe such pitiless misconduct to the author of Love and Salvation.

No.
Its impossible for a loving God to burn people.
Plus Jeremiah 32:35 has God speaking about some sacrificing their children in fire.
He says: "neither did it come up into my heart to do this detestable thing."

Literal meaning biblical - No ....that literature stems from fear, superstition, symbolism and figuritive theology. Literal meaning actual - Yes - but it is where and what you make it.
