You always want to include best wishes, and how you will support (and bless, if you feel) the union of your freind/brother and his "now" wife. You also want to express how happy you have seen them, how happy they are, any sentements of questions of "should I marry"... Slightly "Hallmark" is what you want. Make it homourous and elightening.

Usually the best man toast involves nice and funny things about the groom. A lot of toasts that I've heard, tell about how the groom was when he and the bride first met, or the first time the best man and bride met, or how happy the groom seems with the bride.

If you are asking as a best man, I'd say shorter is better!! You don't want to ramble on and on. Don't tell too many stories or anything that is extra-embarrassing - I mean, just remember that the couples' grandparents and parents are there. Definitely rehearse it and also - this seems silly, but I've seen a best man forget this before - don't forget the part where you actually toast them. I mean, the part where you raise your glass to them!

Speech: You talk about the groom without telling stories that will be extremely embarrassing for him; you just tell stories that will slightly embarrass him. You never tell or talk of any old flames of the groom or escapades that have anything to do with women. Talk about going out with the boys, what a bad boy he is when he's out with the boys and how he's now found his love to tame him! You'll get a laugh, trust me.

Toast: Always toast your friend, yet remember you must also toast the bride. Example: "Today, I know is a truly special day, because my best friend has been joined with (Name of Bride) and we are all together because we are all now one family. I toast the bride and groom, my best friend (his name) and his beautiful bride (her name), and wish them a lifetime of love and joy."

Your speech could consist of maybe some insight of how they met,if you know, some funny times you may have shared with them, and then you go into the toast (wishing them well, etc)

Something very SHORT and complimentary. Never should the remarks be embarassing unless they are done by a pro comic who knows how to "roast"
And done early before the BM gets roaring drunk and starts talking about that time the groom and him went on Spring Break..........

It should not be too rehearsed, alot of people start by telling about the first time they met to get a laugh or if your related tell a funny childhood story or something. Always start funny to get their attention and then do the mushy ending.
