I just need to say this::
IF YOU BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A GOD THEN YOU MUST BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEVIL!!!!ONE CANT EXIST WITHOUT THE OTHER. SATAN IS JUST A METAPHOR FOR ANYTHING NOT CONSIDERED TO BE OF A GOOD NATURE OR ANYTHING THE CHIRCH DOESNT LIKE.

Someone asked if Satan had any redemptive qualities. I replied that he is the hardest worker in history.......
I love the idea of a Satan character like the ones from Milton's Paradise Lost and Dante's Inferno, but I'm not a fan of the actual person Satan.
I like the idea of a Satan character. I don't think God would be as great as He is if he didn't have a force pushing against Him. Something that always inspired me about Satan is that even after being kicked out of heaven, he is still determined to get back at God. From Paradise Lost, the first thing Satan says as he lies in hell is, "Hear me my fallen brothers! Surely we are at our lowest point! A fight from here can only bring gain, we have nothing to lose!" And of course because he knows he cannot fight God directly, he is genius enough to attack something God cares about, Man.
I'm not a fan of the person for simply one reason. I know who is going to win a fight between God and Satan and it would be stupid of anyone to pick the losing side if they already know the outcome.

Judaism makes it crystal clear that Satan is an angel doing the work 'God' assigned to Satan to do. No repentance required.

Satan is real - one of the great mistakes we can make is thinking he is not. He is the "Father of Lies" as the Bible says.
The Bible accounts that he was a higher angel, and thought himself so beautiful and wise that he rebelled against to be God himself. And one third of the angels followed him. He will never be equal to God and will ultimately be destroyed when Christ returns.
The great problem is - he is a liar and a deceiver, and has sold his lies to mankind, which we have bought. He told Adam and Eve that they would have all knowledge if they ate of the fruit God had told them not to in the Garden of Eden, they one condition God had given them in a perfect place, in fellowship with God.
But being man and having choice, they ate the fruit and were separated from God because of rebellion, and here we are today!
Blinded by sin we seek ourselves, and our ways, and reject fellowship with God which He offers through Jesus Christ.
This is the truth of our condition - people choose to not believe it, but the more you think about it and realize it, every part fits, so does every teaching of God - but we reject it in our sin, selfishness and rebellion.
We should hate Satan and abhor evil - which he is the Father of. No evil is of God's will! We live in a broken world, a world broken by our choice of sin, which Satan has provided. This world is in a spiritual battle. Isn't it evident?
The only way to abundant and eternal life is in Christ Jesus alone, who defeated sin ( which we could not do on our own ) and paid our price through his sacrifice.
This is the Gospel - the Good News - that God loves us even in our rebellion, and has overcome sin if we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior - by choice, the free will God gave us.

Who is Satan? Is he a handsome fallen angel or a gruesome horned beast? Does he reside in Hell or does he rule the Earth? Supposedly, he has a wonderful singing voice. Supposedly, he whispers in our ears to do bad things, sin and defy God.
Personally, I dont believe in such a figure. We are not tempted or controlled by the puppet strings of a fallen deity.
Good and evil reside in the hearts of men depending on our genes, environment, influences and position in life... nothing more.

Your statement is not true, for God existed before Satan ever was. And as for your question: Satan, he was a murderer from the beginning.
