True christians do not do that. They will try with godly love to show why they believe what they do. If someone is trying to shove it down your neck, they are ignorant of God's plan. He says if any man would be ignorant, let him be ignorant. Ignore them.

There are many motivations for Christians to shove their religion down other peoples necks.
They range from the selfish motivation of wanting glory for themselves or wanting the "be right" to the more pure motives that they truly believe your life is not as fulfilling and happy as it could be and if you don't choose to follow Christ you will experience eternal separation from God which is believed to be more horrible then anyone can imagine.
If you think about, if you were convinced everyone around you were doomed to eternal tourture but you knew a way to avoid it, wouldn't you try to shove that information down peoples necks?

Okay, I'm a Christian, and no, I don't want to "shove" my religion down anyone's neck, and I take offense to that, because most Christians do not behave that way.
Everyone has the right to choose whatever they want to believe in, and as a Christian it is not my job to make them choose what I believe in. I was always raised to let people make their own decisions with their lives. If someone wants to know about Christianity then I am more than happy to oblige. Those who do try to make others believe in their religion should realize that trying to force something upon someone will not work, and usually only ends up offending others.
It's very rude to stereotype Christians as forcing people to take on their religion.

Everyone needs to center themselves daily to be a whole, happy and productive being. Christianity is one way to meditate and center yourself daily. Yoga does the same thing. In the United States the most popular way to center yourself daily is Christianity. People, by nature, want to be around other people with similar beliefs. Because Christianity worked for them, they want to help other people find happiness and joy.
Also, man worked into the religion a way to passionately spread the "message." And yes, religion is man-made. Your relationship with God doesn't have a lot to do with religion. You can also find God through Yoga.

i have seen this question about 20 times now. The reason we share our faith is because we believe it is the Truth. We believe that it is what we all need. It is not something being sold and it should not being something shoved down your throat. If you had a cure for AIDS would you not tell anyone?

Because that is the whole point of Christianity, to tell everyone of the great news of Jesus Christ. That is the "great commission". I don't agree with it either, but that is what Christians are led to do.

It's part of their calling to reel in like a fishing contest as many converts as possible--- no joke, I went to a sermon once where the pastor challenged the congregation to get as many as possible

Because they are taught to convert others to their own belief system. The are little puppets instead of learning on their own what their own religion means to them and living their lives by their own religion.

Well, usually things are shoved down your throat, not your neck.
And if someone is trying to share their faith with you it's because they hope you will be saved.
