Car details: 1992 4Runner SR5 V6 Manual, 4WD

I've looked online for parts - there are blowers for the 3rd gen. 4runner, but none for the 2nd gen. I've tried to find cat back systems but no luck. I've also seen a multitude of "chips" online, but a lot of these look like scams.

Does anyone know how I can squeeze another 10-15 HP (or more) out of my Runner without breaking the bank?

Thanks

Visit Downey Off-Road's web site and look around...they have everything for everything.

If you aren't mechanically inclined, I recommend that you take it to a REPUTABLE repair facility, ideally an ASE certified shop and ask for diagnosis. Be sure to tell him everything you can. He can't read your mind, and there are very few signs under the hood to give us a direction to go. Does it lose power after it warms up? Or has it lost it all across the board? Has the mileage dropped? Does the "Check Engine" light ever come on? Do you smell anything? Is the temperature running cold or hot? Have you changed tires? Is the engine particularly loud? All of these things should be communicated to the shop when you ask for the diagnosis. You should expect to pay somewhere around 1/2 to 3/4 hour shop rate for the diagnostics. Some shops (not all) will absorb that initial fee if you allow them to perform the necessary repairs.

A 10-15 BHP difference is not enought to warrant the effort, especially considering the mass you have to move. A 4WD just adds more weight. I would leave it stock.

Blowers simply stress the engine beyond it's intended design.

Good luck!
