Hi Najwa! I am not sure what made you think that people hate muslims. I dont think most people do. And those who do, do so because of their lack of perspective in their observation and understanding of people and other social and cultural orders. And I also do agree that its only a minority (a very small one at that too) who turn out to be terrorists. There is some confusion regarding the orthodoxy that most Muslims display but hey, who doesn't? I really do feel sorry for the young men like us who end up being terrorists. Their faith in the religion and their misinterpretation of the same has been exploited. We should not blame them as well cos Bush too has a very warped understanding of the gospels. Hope you feel encouraged. Btw, am not a Muslim. Cheerio!

I don't hate Muslims, I hate Terrorists. The true Muslim faith is one of peace. But I have to admit that since 9/11 (I am origionally from NY BTW) that I look at Muslims, as a whole, differently. I don't hate you, but I am very weary of you. Skepticial even. I know its not fair, but I hope you can understand my point of view. I lost friends when tthe World Trace Center came down. I helped with the recovery effort. I have a hard time understanding how anyone who follows a peaceful faith could commit such an act of violence and I wonder what in your relgious teachings someone could interpret for that to be acceptable.

It's uncalled for. I don't hate Muslims. I have several friends who are Muslims.
Some Americans can be bad about generalising and stereotyping. It's important to understand that not all Americans hate Muslims. The people in the world who do generalise like this, don't understand that it's not the Muslims who are terrorists. It's some of the Muslim *extremists* that are the terrorists.
Every religion has their own extremists, and every religion has killed in the name of their God. It doesn't make the religions bad. Just some of the people of those religions are misguided.
Once people start thinking for themselves, maybe the number of extremists will start to go down. Promote thinking on your own, it will help this world a lot.

A lot of it is the opinions shaped by the media. A terrorist launches an attack, and CNN & their ilk are showing the radical religious leaders who praise their evil deeds. We in the west seldom hear of a cleric who speaks out or condemns these actions. We are shown a distorted version of reality, where the muslim community is closed to outsiders and does and says nothing against its evil doers. I don't believe this to be entirely true, since I have heard clerics and other leaders ask for calm and peace. Unfortunately, its not as newsworthy as mutilated bodies and deluded fanatics claiming such evil deeds to be the just work of a merciful God.

I don't hate Muslims at all. I live in an area with many Muslims. I have helped painting their mosque a few years ago and everybody was very friendly. I like seeing people as people.
I do hate fanatic religious people. No matter if they are christians, muslims, hindu, or whatever kind of believe. With fanatic people I mean people who think that everyone should think as them, and try to force that on to others. I see a lot of fanatisism here, mainly christian.
Most religious people are not like that at all. Most people just want to live in peace, religion or not. I don't see the problem with that.
I don't care if someone carries a headscarve or a christian cross around their neck. As long as they don't bother me with it.

Christianity thrives on opposition. It chooses a target and demonises it. It tries to keep its followers afraid of the outside world and confident that the only good people are 'fellow Christians'. For this reason, the uneducated believe only what others tell them - and they tell them bad things about Islam.
Many in my family are Muslim. I have no religion, and as a result I don't judge any religion wholesale. I look only at the actions if its individuals.

Well good for you, but what are you doing to counter those who ARE terrorizing? The most effective counter force would be a force from within the Muslim religion. Get to it!
To be sure, I do NOT mean in an aggressive or violent way!

You're going to see that with any religion. Only the ignorant hate someone because of the religion they have chosen. The ignorant will categorize everyone from a religion into the worst thing that anyone from that religion has done. This happens with Christians on this site on a daily basis. Unfortunatley some people aren't happy with themselves unless thay are hating someone.

People generalize that Muslims are terrorists because 99% of terrorists' are Muslims. Many terrorist say they do what they do in the name of religion, this is unfair to the rest of the Muslim Community. If you are really interested in this subject, read "Clash of Civilizations"

With a holy war it is hard not to group everybody into one type of person. . . American's are American's though . . .muslim or not. It would be like a Japoneise person living here after Pearl Harbor was bombed . . . well maybe not. I guess we put those people in camps. I guess the Pope doesn't know.
