Lactose intolerance can begin at various times in life. In Caucasians, it usually starts to affect children older than age 5. In African-Americans, lactose intolerance often occurs as early as age 2.

When people with lactose intolerance consume milk products, they may have symptoms such as abdominal bloating, excessive intestinal gas, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping.

Lactose intolerance is very common in adults and is not dangerous. Many adults have some degree of lactose intolerance by age 20 (approximately 30 million Americans).

Lactose intolerance is sometimes seen in premature babies. Full-term babies generally do not show signs of lactose intolerance until they are at least 3 years old.

I was born lactose intolerant and had to have soy formula.

In my physical anth classes we were always given from various books that the average age for it to occur is four years old.

A not so random fact: Most of the world is lactose intolerant. A lot of Americans do not know this because most people who can digest lactose as an adult are white.

It is different for everyone. Some people are born lactose intolerant and others develop it later in life.

ANY AGE EXCEPT NEWBORN BABIES, THEY ARE ON EITHER THE MOTHER'S BREAST MILK OR INFANT MILK (WHICH SOMETIMES HAS TO BE CHANGED TO FIND THE RIGHT ONE)
COMMENT ON THIS; FOR MANY YEARS (WITH EXCEPTION TO FEW) THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS LACTOSE INTOLERANT. NOW DAYS THE GOVERNMENT HAS STEROIDS AND CHEMICALS INJECTED/AND OR PUT INTO THE COWS FOOD TO MAKE THEM PRODUCE MORE MILK. THESE CHEMICALS AND SUCH AFFECT OUR HUMAN BODIES IN WAYS THAT ARE NOT GOOD. NEXT, IN ORDER FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE MORE MONEY, THEY CAME OUT WITH LACTOSE INTOLERANT MEDICATIONS FOR US TO PURCHASE AND THEN LACTOSE INTOLERANT MILKS FOR US TO PURCHASE. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. "FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY" OUR SUCH HIGH TECH UNIVERSE OF PEOPLE ARE SO INTELLIGENT THAT WE ARE KILLING OUR OWN SELVES WITH OUR INTELLIGENT INVENTIONS! JUST PLAIN IGNORANCE!!!!!!!!!
MILK IS CERTAINLY NOT THE ONLY THING THE GOVERNMENT HAS UNDERHANDEDLY DONE AND HAVE BEEN DOING THINGS WITH & TO!
SEEMS PEOPLE WOULD EVENTUALLY OPEN THIER EYES TO SUCH THINGS AS THIS AND COME TOGETHER TO PUT A SCREECHING HAULT TO IT.
