We do need immigrants to perform many tasks in this country... for example the majority of farmworkers that harvest our nation's food are immigrants, many of whom are illegal... They do not only come from Mexico , but many other countries in Central American and South America as well... Give them rights and amnesty

Everyone should understand that companies in the United States and the world for that matter will always use cheap labor if it is available. The fact is that illegal immigrants coming to the US (actually invited by business) is a factor in keeping inflation at reasonable levels. Arguably immoral but a reality. Remember capitalism is amoral and does not care what is right or wrong. That's the way it should be but sometimes the government or the people need to evaluate the situation and make some changes. For those of you that want to get rid of Mexican workers you need to ask yourself some questions. Are you willing to pay more for food, housing, childcare etc? It's an interesting question because if the government cracks down on employers who hire illegal immigrants forcing them to hire US workers then labor costs will skyrocket. Actually this may be a good thing if the jobs are filled by US workers. How much money will it take to attract US workers to work the jobs historically done by illegal immigrants? Illegal workers do not come to this country for benefits they come for the money so they can support their families in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, etc. Texas does not provide the benefits that California does but there is no shortage of cheap labor in Texas. The answer is difficult but if we keep cheap labor out are we willing to pay the price. It's also easy to say yes keep them out if you're not the one buying the house, raising a family, and paying the bills. And by the way if employers pay in cash of course taxes are not paid.

This is not the same scenario but I think it's ironic that Japan and some European countries think of the United States as cheap labor. That is the primary reason BMW, Honda, Toyota and others have automobile plants in the US. It is not out of the goodness of their hearts. Just something to think about.

#3 Ride on a bike to sell ice cream - if we send all illegals packing, we wouldn't need a guy to ride around on a bike selling ice cream, because most American born people are wary of buying food like that, we prefer stores which are regulated.

No way! The illegals take many of the jobs teens used to do. Ask a teenager or two. They have a terrible time finding jobs.

Regarding amnesty, in 1986 President Reagan gave the 8 million here amnesty, and even more came--now there are 11-20 million MORE here, depending on which statistics you believe. AND if you give them amnesty, they'll all get to bring their entire families here.

I USED to clean toilets and do dishes. I was the american that did those jobs, I like being a custodian. I've lost my job to illegals.
