need some advice about colouring my hair?

I have dark brown hair and want to change it. I have two ideas but I would like to know what people think about this.
The first idea is to put blonde and red streaks in my hair but sort of under it so that you can see them peeking through the rest of my hair. the second idea is to just under colour my hair in red or blonde.
please help i need advise qick!

go to a wig store and try on wigs, that would give you an idea without committing

I dont ever wanna colour my hair but i can give you some advice. Before coloring, you should make sure your hair is healthy because coloring naturally damages it. You shouldn't color if you're pregnant (i think people know this already) and vegetable dye is a more healthy alternative and is not harmful when you're pregnant. There are three kinds of hair colorings, Semi-permanent, demi-permanent and permanent. Semi is one of the most goof-proof because it washes out in about 18-24 shampoos. Demi is somehow a stronger form of Semi and washes out in about 36 shampoos. Both of these however are not permanent and can only enhance or darken your natural hue. It cant lighten it. Permanent can both darken and lighten your hair color but you can't wash it out and it is the most damaging to your hair.


I think you should go Demi or Semi first so that you can see if you like it. And then dye it permanently if you do like it. It might take some more time and effort but you do get a greater result and no one said that beauty was easily achieved...

I have had every color hair you can imagine. I think it depends on your personality, if you want something subtle go with the underlying highlights, but if you are a drastic type of person then go big and just do some chunking. I like the subtle better myself. Since you can change it back easier if you dont like it.

be careful putting blonde highlights on dark hair because it burns your hair even more and brakes.I had to dye my hair black because of the 2 different colors of blonde highlights I had on my hair.

Are you willing to pay for touch ups all the time with red streaks?
My stylist suggested me not to do that. Anyhow, I think you should stay natural. Sally's do sell attachments cheap..
