Virginity is not lost simply from sexual intercourse. It is, rather, the loss of the hymen. And yes, the hymen can be penetrated by a thing. Sometimes, the hymen breaks anyway on its own accord in athletically-inclined women and others and sometimes people insert objects to break the hymen.

In those cultures that prize virginity, the hymen must be left intact. But in more modern cultures, it makes sense to break it before engaging in sex for the first time, because the minor bleeding that may occur will have been taken care of and cured before sex, so sex itself can be enjoyed without the pain of breaking the hymen.

So, to answer your question directly, has anyone done it? Yes, many people. Is it healthy? Well, it's not unhealthy (unless you insert something dirty inside yourself), and it's makes sense, and since it gives you peace of mind that you won't experience pain on your first intercourse, yes, it's healthy.

depends on what you insert, and if it's clean or not.
don't go sticking just anything up there......
if your on your period and you use tampons, you'll be fine, just always use the right absorbancy for your flow.
if your just horny, use a small toy(available in many novelty stores, such as starship, and insurection) and have fun. by the way, a little pain is natural and will go away within a few seconds to a minute or so.
if it doesn't, stop using the toy immediately, it's too big for you!
note:you can only get into and obtain a toy from novelty stores if you are 18 and older. my advise applies to the same stipulations

You actually could physically do this, and a doctor could review you later and think you are sexually active (especially by using a rather large object multiple times). I would not recommended, but it could be done.

Also the hymen can break at anytime without being sexually active. Sometimes strenuous exercises may cause this to occur. Some women have hymens that never break, or appear to rupture multiple times in their life during certain activities.

Doing that has nothing to do with virginity. But if you tear your own hymen in the way you say, it may have the advantage that when you eventually do first have sex, it won't be so painful.

But that doesn't mean I recommend it.

its not healthy to do that and its not taking your virginity. It may break the hymen. Why would anyone want to do this?

That's not taking your virginity. You lose your virginity by engaging in sexual contact with another person. You can't lose your virginity to a thing.
