Okay, I am sure this is always asked but let’s get passed the idea of a charitable God purposely harming innocent children for no apparent reason because I already know your answer, God’s plan blah, blah, blah…
What I am wondering is why would a child who has died from a disease or a young 14 year old girl who is brutally raped then murdered see heaven as their reward? I mean the guy who brought them such hell on earth lives there!
I volunteer with an acting troupe at M.D. Anderson Hospital I see kids suffering from the affects of their cancer and the anguish on their parents faces, I have been through first hand what they are going through so I know of what I speak and I always wonder if they arrive at the pearly gates with a lot of anger at their injustice on earth.
An analogy would be a 10- year old boy being good all summer and his reward is getting to go spend a week at Never Land Ranch with Michael Jackson. Great Place but the guy who runs it is pretty questionable. Thoughts?

Either there is no god, or our lives are just a divine version of 'Punk'd'...I hear God is going to sue Ashton Kutcher for stealing his show...

(14 year old girl is raped and murdered, and then arrives in heaven)
Girl: (Crying) Where am I?
GOD: Well, you were raped and murdered, and now you're in HELL!
Girl: (Speechless, dumbfounded) I....I...uh...
GOD: HAH HAH! We got you good!
(Crowd of angels appear laughing)
GOD: (Laughing) You should have seen the look on your face when that rapist finished, and then put that knife to your throat!! Oh my god, that was...here, check out the replay!

I kind of hope I go to hell!

If you believe in the Judeo Christian mythological God, being in his presence is supposedly wonderful and the greatest reward they can have.

Of course as an atheist, I understand that the 10 year old boy needs to stay away from Michael Jackson, and that the 14 year old girl needs counseling. The men need to be punished.

In Genesis Dinah gets raped. Her brothers simeon and levi go and kill all the males in the village where the rapist was. Their punishment for killing a little more than what was clearly necessary: The lose their blessing.

The Bible is messed up. I know that much. A good read to know what they the religious actually believe.

I understand exactly what you're saying.I don't understand how an Omnipotent being wouldn't just stop things like that from happening either.I can understand the day to day problems of adults but not of children who are defenseless.
In adult life, even though people assume that a eutopia would be ideal, I dont.
Not having trials ever in life would make our lives completely meaningless. We think that getting everything we want would be wonderful because we go through so much HELL everyday on earth. How could we appreciate it if we didnt know what struggle and strife were?
Maybe some children were sent here not for their own benefit, but to save others and their hell is repaid with heaven because they worked so hard through their pain and suffering to save the rest of us.They wouldnt understand heaven if they never went through hell either. I think of those children like I think of Jesus because they have no sins. Maybe for all my sins a child died to save my soul.It happened once right?I hope this helps but in case it doesn't I still understand your feelings.

It isn't God who hurts children or even adults. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden that opened up a curse. Read in Genesis about the curse. When a man rapes a kid its not by God's choice but cause of the sin nature in that man. I am sorry people suffer from the curse of sin. You say cause a boy is good all summer, no one is good. We all have a sin nature. Means we capiable of sinning. As far as kids going to heaven. If that child is saved yes. Plus there is the age of accountabilty. I think that to mean once a child knows right from wrong as in they know of Heaven and Hell, and what can happen if they aint saved and they fully understand that then they better get saved.

God's son Jesus went through alot of pain. Much more pain than most men, women and children. And that was his son. I think it is a learning process. Yes it is painful and sad but without pain and sadness how is happiness really appreciated. I think we learn from pain. I dnt know why people do things like rape children and that sadden me whenever I hear of it. But the idea of when I die if I live right I will go to a better place helps me to live right. I dont think that I am suppose to understand why things happen all the time but instead appreciate what I have been blessed with. Look at the curiosity of Adam and Eve. God will give you what you need in time if he feels you need it. The ultimate blessing are yet to come.

You are hurting and frustrated with good reason. It's hard to watch others suffer. We ask, where is God when these children suffer and the answer is that God is where he was when he watched his son suffer the physical tortures of being beaten and crucified, then endure the spiritual torment of paying the death penalty for every sin for every human past, present and future. As was already stated, man brought sin into the world and because of it there is much pain and suffering for all - some more than others. Life isn't fair and no one including God ever said it was - in fact Jesus tells us how hard life will be and how hard it is to stay the Right Path. You have to trust that God is good even when we, with our limited human minds do not see or understand His goodness. He has sent YOU with all the kindness, love and compassion I read in your words, to help these children. God bless you. ~Nisa

Once again this touches on the hypocrisy of Christian believe. God has no part in harming children. He doesn't cause someone to rape, or give a child disease. However, if someone shows up in the nick of time to stop a rape from happening, or the disease is cured. It sure wasn't coincidence or medicine that had anything to do with them. Then, suddenly it's only by the divine blessing of God those things happened. If he's got the power to stop one, he can stop them all. People need to quit bullshitting themselves.

Who said God hurts children? People hurt children. Disease hurts children - not God.

An analogy would be: an artist spends months painting a masterpiece, creating shadow and light and depth and space - when it is completed he is very happy with his work. He then displays it in an Art Gallery, where people admire the beauty of the painting. Then, one day the artist decides he wants to bring the painting back home - so he goes into the gallery & destroys his work.

You see it makes no sense to blame a creator for destruction and pain.

In the event you missed it somewhere God gave man "Free Will" how we choose to exercise that determines where our soul will rest, take a look at your parents I bet you rebel when your parents tell you to take out the trash imagine if they controlled your every waking moment? Parents know kids need guidance yet some degree of autonomy to grow, do you imagine God hasn't figured this out yet, as for the Michael Jackson issue Like OJ he was found INNOCENT, Why is it the courts that found the cops videotaped beating Rodney King innocent and no one grumbles yet OJ and Michael found innocent being so hard to swallow. Deal with it!!!

God doesn't hurt anyone, he doesn't watch the world with a control stick like a video game.

I always liked this analogy.

God is a father, a father may walk next to his son who trips and falls, the boy is hurt and crying. The father did not push the boy down, but he helps him up, dries his tears and gives a hug.

God is there ready to hold the hand of anyone hurting.

well, you responded part of your question : God's plan. Sometimes ppl getting a disease is maybe bad for themselves, but it can help lots of ppl realising things and all. For instance, one person dies from cancer, and a whole family decides to help cancer research and that's lots of lives saved !

Talking about rapes and murders, that's the Evil's matter.. God doesn't tell encourage ppl to rape or kill, the evil does
