Sometimes I let her out earlyer so she can get all her business over with but (like last night) I brought her back in at around 2 AM she still needed to go out at 3. She rushes to the door and really has an urgency to go out. Do you think she has a bladder infection or anything? Or just a habbit? I ignored her once and she had an accident. She is a Great Pyraneese Mix and 10 years old.

Your dog is suffering from the same thing that I am currently dealing with with my own American Eskimo-being a senior. His trips are normally at 3am as well. Then again between 5-6am. Unfortunately there is really nothing you can do according to the vet. I feel lucky in the fact that even though I too have experienced a few accidents, he still knows he needs to go outside.

Guessing from age she may have an incontinence issue. Also try taking away her water (as instructed to do with a puppy) after 9PM or even 10PM since you're up so late. This way there won't be enough water in the dog's body to make her need to go. Either way I'd have a check up performed at a vet.

When our Pomeranian / Poodle mix got up in years she had to go out in the middle of the night too. She had bladder problems and wasn't able to hold it all night.

It might be a combination of a bladder problem and a habit. Since she knows she has to go, maybe she has gotten into the habit of going at 3.

U say she is ten so has she always done this? If it's just occuring all of a sudden she may have some sort of bladder infection or incontinence. Take her to the vet, she can probably get put on some meds for it.

I'd take her to a vet to rule out any infection or weak bladder and such. This can cause her need to go out after she's been out earlier. When I was a child, we had a dog who lived to be 13 years old. As he got older, he lost control over his bowel functions and we would find yucky surprises over the house. It happens when dogs get older that they no longer have full control over their bodies.

What I would do is experiement with her H2O intake. Try taking it away at 9...if she still has to go in the middle of the night...try 8, until you find a time where she stops having to go out until morning. If that doesnt work...put her in a crate, she won't pee in her own sleeping space.

If she also sniffs her hind quarters extensively and passionately, chases her tail rapidly, and whines all at the same time, then you need to put her out of her misery by feeding her chocolate every hour for several weeks.

I suggest that 15-20 min before you go to bed take them outside and leave them out there until you are ready to go to bed. This will give them time to do the "Do" outside. Good Luck

10 years old is fairly old for a large breed - maybe it's age. Ask the vet.

Try not to give her water before you go to sleep and if she still wakes you up don't let her out.....she has learned this routine and you need to break it!
