Some people think, your sexuality is environment/how you are raised and what you are exposed to. Some say it is genetics and you already are what you are when you are born. Some say it is just a decision that you make in your life,...how you are going to live and who you will be attracted to. I say it is a mixture of all of them. But, mostly, you are in charge of your own life. I dont believe in saying..."I cant control myself, I was born this way"... I've had to many experiences to know that is just a cowards way out of facing life and making good decisions. You can control your own thoughts, feelings, decisions, and yes your own sexuality. If not,...than you have a lot of work to do. That is one of the ways God made us different than the animals and beasts of the field. He gave us choice and the ability to use our brains that He gave us to make good decisions for our body/mind/spirit.

Human sexuality is as complex as they come... in attempting to understand what drives a persons sexual feelings you may need to consider many issues which may have a direct impact on the person... these may include their environment, culture, background etc.

Because the answer to your question can be so broad and somewhat all-encompassing... I'll try to be very brief: (this is my opinion) An individual is born with a certain pre-disposition... I believe this disposition to be pre-natal (influenced by possible genetic factors as well as hormones in the mother's womb). Because an individual is predisposed for, say heterosexuality, does it mean he/she will definitely be heterosexual---probably not. I believe the predisposition is like a biological roadmap which, as you develop emotional/psychologically, will gravitate your desires to a potentional sex partner. Can a person change their sexuality? Again, another very complex and involved question... to summarize (IMHO)... it is possible to physically change a persons sex (thx to science), however the emotional and psychological impact of altering a persons' sex could have potentionally devastating impacts one's view of life. In general, people will do what they "Feel" is good for them... this process takes time and may develop over years... again, depending upon a person's circumstances. Ie. A father of 4, apparently happily married, falls in love with a 30-something man--and later in an interview says "he didn't know he was ever attracted to men, until he met his current lover".... this has been known to happen, pretty frequently. Does it mean the father of 4 was actually homosexual or does it mean he was hetersexual and decided, in a moment of curiousity, to experiment with another male and liked it... or perhaps he's bisexual and prefers sexual encounters with both male and female...

In closing, a persons sexual feelings are much to complicated to try and understand without a full disclosure of the individual's history. Understanding where someone came from and the direction they see their life going (personally speaking), will paint a clearer picture of what actually motivates sexual orientation and how easily altered or unaltered, it can be.

Remember your favorite thing in the world when you were 5?
What's your favorite thing now?
Yes, sexuality, though it is a natural drive FOR THE OPPOSITE SEX, your personal preference is developed based on enviroment and situations that you have been exposed to. People develop gay tendencies in prison only to return as straight as an arrow when released. Look at the media, we are bombarded with images of every kind of sexuality imaginable. So people experiment and change, some like who they are some don't some change some won't

Yes, they can. Everyone is born with free will. God was "pro-choice," if you will; in that, God gave us the ability to choose right over wrong. We have the choice whether to sin or not sin.

If a pedophile defended his "sexual feelings" in court by saying, "I can't help it; I was born this way." Would you march with him in the streets and call it "Child Molester Pride"? The homosexual's sexual perversions are no less a "decision" than the sexual perversions of a pedophile.

Perverse and depraved sexual choices such as homosexuality, pedophilia, beastiality, and whatever else human beings can use to destroy themselves, are all choices----decisions to sin.

People can, likewise, decide to turn away from those sins and choose to obey God.

Those are the choices. Each one of us is given the ability to decide for ourselves who and what we will be.

I guess to a degree, but yet there are things developed in a persons head...psychi that don't change overnight. sexuality is a reflection of who that person is....so the person would have to totally change themselves inorder to change their sexuality. They can, but only to a degree. It really depends on the person I think.

Depends on what you mean. Feelings (or impulses) come and go. If someone acted on their impulses, instead of ignoring them, then I suppose that certain impulses would grow stronger over time (by habit). I think that that is what people mean by "choosing".

Exodus International claims that they have helped people change their sexual orientation.

no, i disagree. that's like those people saying that you're not born gay, you become gay - and i find that highly unlikely. that would mean that i could wake up one day and just "decide" that i'm going to become a lesbian. please that's just total bs.
