Toothpastes can only remove surface stains. If your teeth are just yellow or gray in color then you will not see any effect from whitening toothpastes. The abrasiveness fo the toothpastes can remove coffee and tea stains, because these build up on the outside of the teeth and not inside the tooth structure. Tobacco stains can be removed with toothpastes, but this also can intrinsically stain the tooth (inside the structure) if this happens then the only solution is whitening at the dental office or trying the Crest Whitestrips.
To actually make the color or shade of your teeth whiter, then you need to use the Crest Whitestrips or equivalent or go to the dental office to either have in office treatment or the custom take home trays.

There's the Colgate toothpaste that's called Simply White that works pretty well. Any whitening toothpaste with the milk derivative, I forget exactly what it's called, is a good choice. However if you're looking for quicker results than 3-4 months, I would say try a tooth whitener like Rembrant or Crest Whitening Strips. Just be careful, because they can make your teeth more sensitive. :)

The white teeth are not dependant on good paste. It is how properly and regulerly you brush. And always choose a nice tooth brush
