Well there would be allot less war and fighting. And science would be free to advance improving our lives significantly without the fear of playing god. And there would be allot more free will as people won't be afraid of offending a fictitious character. Say no to jesus.

Sounds good, a new world that will not suffer from the problems of the old. However, there are so many evils in the world that need correcting, so many worthy causes that need support, that no one person can possibly do it all, not even if one had an entire lifetime to devote solely to that purpose.

They eventually Will. Revelation 18;. 2 And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: “She has fallen! Babylon the Great has fallen, and she has become a dwelling place of demons and a lurking place of every unclean exhalation and a lurking place of every unclean and hated bird!
Most agree that Babylon the Great is false religion. So who will make it fall? Who has the necessary power to do so. It can only be governments. China banning religion is an example. If this happened worldwide, it would succeed. Governments are described in Revelation as 'the Kings of the earth'. And big business as ' the travelling merchants'. Rev. 18;
9 “And the kings of the earth who committed fornication with her and lived in shameless luxury will weep and beat themselves in grief over her, when they look at the smoke from the burning of her". Governments will 'feign' sorrow.
Rev. 18;11 “Also, the traveling merchants of the earth are weeping and mourning over her, because there is no one to buy their full stock anymore. Big business will mourn and the reason is clearly stated. And finally at verse 15, Babylon is described. "15 “The traveling merchants of these things, who became rich from her, will stand at a distance because of [their] fear of her torment and will weep and mourn, 16 saying, ‘Too bad, too bad—the great city, clothed with fine linen and purple and scarlet, and richly adorned with gold ornament and precious stone and pearl, 17 because in one hour such great riches have been devastated!’
Does this seem familiar? Purple, scarlet, very wealthy.
Verse 4; 4 And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues.
So Babylon is an organisation that has a membership, or number of people under 'her' control. Again familiar. People held there in fear?

Outlawing religion wouldn't get rid of it.

Many of the world's religions have suffered through times of harsh persecution and the necessity for underground operation. But they still survive today, and would likely continue to do so through any oppression forced upon them.

It would never happen... particularly not here with Bush in charge. He's about the most outrightly religious president we've ever had. In many other countries religion is more than just a belief system, it's a way of life.

anybody is acquainted with the international Religions are coming alongside via the Ecumenical circulation. yet those Religions are nevertheless going for use to annihilate one yet another. Its all a political administration problem. yet that is what the heads of all significant Religions desire and receives. finally there'll be one "Head of all Religions, as god", and could be worshiped from Jerusalem. Religions have maximum all been created for this purpose to worship a mundane god. imo

The same that is happening in China, which outlawed religions. The church lives on underground.

It's been tried and has never worked. Religion went underground. Others became martyrs for the faith.

Religion is too powerful a force. People would continue to practice their religion even if the government said they couldn't.

If people don't live in a way that pleases God and His commandments then they live in a way that please themselves. That could get real ugly. Look at the lives and effects of people who don't follow God's 10 Commandments. Murder, stealing, lying, adultery, jeolousy...all which lead to other sins.
