Stuff that doesn't need to stay too cold (but I do have a small cooler for water & pop) and isn't just pure junk food.

Part of a road trip is the snacking along the way, so you should plan things that everyone likes. If I'm travelling with kids, I make up a snack bag for each one, so the adults aren't always having to rummage around for whatever they want.

First of all, you might consider buying yourself a folding cooler...they take up no room when they're not in use, and you'll love it.

I like dried fruit and nut mixtures...you can pick whichever one(s) you want, and they're not full of sugar like most granola bars.

What about fruit leathers? They are great for snacking and don't take up a lot of room.

Cherry tomatoes, cucumber circles, carrot sticks or slices, radishes, brocolli....whatever you like in fresh veggies.

Buy a "circle" of Laughing Cow cheese....it has 8 individually wrapped portions that are easy to open and spread beautifully on crackers. There are different flavors, and a reduced calorie variety.

If I am on a long trip, I use small rolls and make several sandwiches apiece. Ham, salami, roast beef are good if you're not a vegetarian. Instead of lettuce, which tends to wilt, I use cucumber slices.

You might like to crunch on reduced calorie popcorn or chips, but maybe that's too close to junk food for you.
And lastly, I always buy 1 large yummy cookie apiece.

Have fun planning the snacks, and Enjoy your trip!

You can get applesauce in little plastic single serving cups, or also different fruits like that too. Some of the fruits also come in little cans with pull top lids. Crackers are always good, there are so many different kinds. One of my faves right now are the graham cracker sticks. Granola bars or fruit and cereal bars also.
