2 Thes. 2 explains this:

"6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

The lie unsaved people will believe is that the gospel -- Good News -- of Jesus Christ didn't happen. This passage explains that folks who reject the gospel prior to the Rapture of the church will be "blinded" to the truth after the Rapture, and will be incapable of being saved. A sobering thought, isn't it?

However, there will also be people during this time who didn't reject the gospel, they just didn't do what they needed to do to become saved. These folks WILL be capable of salvation during the Tribulation. Sadly, most of them will be martyred.

People today would rather believe a lie than the truth. The lie is Anti-Christ.

"Even the very elect will be decieved" is the wording. It refers to the humans turning away from the true path as Jesus outlined. It means some people will fall away from the real church to follow false prophets, as has happened

In wanting to believe in something, people will fall for anything. They will believe the Anti-Christ is the Christ and the lies he spouts.
People already fall for anything now, I mean come on, energy from crystals? Yourself as a God?
