Karma (doings)from what I know have two divides. That is Good Karma and Bad Karma. This is like your balance sheet. Say good Karma is the income then Bad Karma will become the expenses. At the time we die what matters is that we have (+) on credits than (-) on debts - this does not mean that the (-) are forgotten. People do make huge mistakes that cannot be made (+) no matter how good that person does - this will follow that person to the lives to come and will be negated only when that person pays for it by some mean.

I think that would defeat the purpose of karma. I may be wrong, but I thought the idea of karma was doing good regardless of the consequenes, and wouldn't expecting getting something back for that be defeating the purpose?

You can't "collect" a karma credit. If there is such a thing, you will
get what's coming to you at an unknown time-it's not for you to say when.

how about a debit? The whole concept is just trying to make mystical the principle of cause and effect. You hit someone, well it won't be karma that is hitting you back.

It just happens. Are you sure you have a credit? Maybe you are just paying off a past debt.

dont go about doing good deeds with the expectation that you will get something in return....thats not how it works....just do the good deeds out of the kindness of your good heart and be grateful for the opportunity to serve God or whomever it is you serve.
