Bad breath can be from more than just needing a mint. Bad breath is caused by poor food, bad dental health, stomach problems, renal failure to name a few. If you can't brush your dogs teeth, take her to a vet for a cleaning. Chances are she needs to be seen by a vet to find the cause of the bad breath anyway. As for the food...Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. They have these breath mints and Wal mart and at like, all stores that you can buy and make the dog eat it and then there breath will smell really good. If you can't find any, open her mouth with one hand, and then stick in the tooth brush really fast. and began brushing. but make sure the toth brush is for dogs so it won't hurt your little chihuahua. i have a chihuahua mix. they can be so stubbron though!
hope this helped
good luck and I know how u feel with your dogs bad breath my chihuahua could kill something with her breath

If your dog trusts you, than you can hold her mouth open with one hand and brush her teeth with the other. If that wont help than you will either have to have it done at the vets or get doggie mints/treats from a store or just not do anything at all(not recommended).

There are so many products other than a toothbrush to clean dogs breath. Try a mint flavored treat, doggy mints, or toys made with hard rubber to clean the plaque off of there teeth.

I have a chihuahua, and I tried the chicken flavored toothpaste. She mostly just ate that and wouldn't let me brush her teeth so much at first.

Does your dog trust you? Maybe you have to build up the trust relationship before she lets you in her mouth to scrape her teeth. They also have dental bones and doggie mints that you could try in the meantime. It's really expensive to bring them to the vet to get it done....like $250 I think!

You mostly have to worry about the outside of their teeth. The inside surface stays pretty good from the tongue.

You can also give her large frozen broccoli heads to gnaw on. The do a pretty good job of cleaning teeth, if she will gnaw on them.

instead of the tooth brush you could try treats FOR bad breath and plaque (which causes bad breath), you may also want to talk to your vet about having his teeth cleaned.

Well, i also have a chihuahua, but she lets me open her mouth. I would say, if all else fails, then maybe you can have a groomer do this?? (not sure if they do it at the groomer or not)
