We have pleased our gods this morning with candles lit in their honor and incense as an offering.

Aren't you supposed to be a Christian? What's with this "the gods" business? Is is some kind of part-time Paganism? Or do you know something the other Christians don't? - I'm just wondering.
I guess since Christians helped themselves to all the old Pagan festivals (winter solstice, harvest festival, etc), there were bound to be a few hangovers like this as well.
Oh, glad to see you've stopped talking like an Elizabethan dandy, forsooth.

Here it is hot and sunny but I'm stuck in a cramped little room... They're sending me mixed messages again!
I think some are pleased with me and some are displeased...

Are the gods pleased with me today?
I'll call the golf course and find out.
Because the golf gods are the only ones that are real.

Gods who need to vanquish something to be pleased are false Gods.
I suggest you look for a God who is pleased when you are loving something.
That’s what a real God is like.
