India certainly has the volume in terms of size, however their armies are untested in modern times. It's good to have them on our side, hopefully that will continue. We have a real balancing act to perform in order to keep India and Pakistan from a confrontation. We need them both, in order to build an ally base.

Japan is attempting to build up militarily and they have the US blessing to do so. They are probably much further along than the media reports. I'm sure, that is because Japan keeps a tight lip regarding it's military resources, unlike the US.

It's good to think that we have two out of three, as allies.

India's military is subpar compared to China, in the future, it may grow, but will likely still be a NATO ally as they are democratic. Japan is a tiny nation that has a constitution that limits offensive action and the amount of forces Japan can levy. Japan has been dependant on U.S. protection for 61 years. China is growing militarily as you said, they are developing new weapons, and will be a major threat in the future.

India DOES have enemies of their own making. They started three border wars with Pakistan because they didn't want to give up the territory and the angered China in 1962 and had to fight them. India has made it clear that they consider Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal as theirs. They have also drawn up plans to invade and annex Australia, assuming they can assemble enough sealift capacity to carryout the attack.

It isn't just women that get treated badly in Inidan society. The entire bottom 25% of the population (called Dalits) are treated like garbage. India is no democracy. It never has been. It has always been a self-perpetuating oligarchy based on Caste. Doesn't matter that the British abolished the Caste system 300 years ago, they nation still acts as if it still had force of law.

China is the one to watch. The numbers of troops that they have is profound. Military hardware and navy is getting there too.

India still has a long way to go. They are still having trouble providing basic needs for their people. Kind of like North Korea.

Not sure about Japan
